the word prestige is in the rules - but without knowing the past (or trawling through all the news) this is meaninglessly vague. About 7 seasons ago now isn't it?

What's all this brown nosing and doughnut love?

I'd just like to go on record as saying that DJ has been no help whatsoever in answering my pointless and irrelevant questions over the last 4 months.

Furthermore, I think he's secretly been badly advising all over Div IV teams with the aim of finally getting his team automatically promoted through our mistakes - A quick look at the promotion table confirms my suspicions!!!

Yes, it must be about that.

Every week the supporter club size will be updated. The amount of supporters that sign up depends on:

- Club division
- League prestige...

That's the bit i think you are referring to, and still it's only in relation to the amount of fans joining.

In fact, the word "sponsor" or "sponsorship" is only used once in the entire Rules, here:

Saturday

- Pay day for salaries and stadium costs.
- Draft of juniors for junior schools.
- Weekly money transfers from sponsors are received on club’s account.

which is pretty vague indeed. Thanks for digging that out though.

I think you could be on to something re: the tougher league.

NCFC, you and me started around the same time - below are our relative league strengths and sponsorship.

NCFC (20/11/07)
IV.43 - statistically 2nd strongest of 64 in IV division
£32,693

Steelers (16/12/07)
IV.61 - 10th
£29,103

MrBaboon (17/12/07)
IV.02 - 51st!!!!
£23,400

I know 3 isn't exactly statistically significant, but there does seem to be a trend.

I think it is done that way...my league is 50th, and i just got £30,198...but then i have been playing longer!

Though; my average marks as a team = 34.9
average marks for my division IV.21 = 23.3

I guess the extra money you're getting per week is fair when you weigh things up.

This is all rather useful information (and ties in with Vancians's post). It indicates a "swings-and-roundabouts" effect. What one team gains from winning more matches in a weaker league is offset by extra sponsorship cash for the other team, which seems a lot fairer than how (ahem..) Hattrick works.

Also, it looks like promotion could be a lot more worthwhile than I would have expected.

To be honest - I would take £2k less pw & get the promotion to league III.

I will be in league IV for a few seasons yet, as 2 teams in my league are very good - but also very equal in quality, so they draw against each other & may go into difficult play offs.
