Subject: 3 options to spend next seasons cash

2008-05-15 12:35:42
NCFC [del] to All
I need to try & pick out the best improvement I can make for my team for next season.

I will gain about 60k I hope. I want to buy a trainee (aprox 30k) - so I have 30k left.

Currently my sponsorship & ticket money just covers my 2 weekly costs.

1 - Should I get a 3rd assistant coach (I currently have 2 very good assistant coaches)?

2 - Get 2000 extra standing spaces for my stadium (currently I have 5000 capacity)?

3 - improve my Junior Coach (he is currently excellent)

I think No1 is my favourite, as I would hope to get a few more randon pops at training each week.

if you have some good trainees its worth it, the second option is bad as you want extra standing. You are best off getting some seats on the sides of your stadium.

I have 2000 benches on one side & 2000 terrace on the other side - with 1000 terrace behind the goal.

Is that a poor set up?

What sort of wages are your assistants on?

I ask because money is obviously tight for you, and unless your HC has high values in a few attributes they may be a bit of a luxury for you.

If they are on nice low wages then trainees would be the way I would go I think.

if you're looking at spending 60k total then i would buy 1 half-way decent trainee for 60k rather than 30k. A decent trainee is a better investment than the others you mentioned.

the 2 assistants come to 8k. I do get some random pops about 1 or max 2 per week. I get about 1 plop per week on stamina.

I never spent 60k on anyone yet.

I never considered spending all that cash on 1 trainee.

If that is the best investment - then I will do it.

Should I buy him now whilst prices are lower?.

I am also not sure what a good or half good trainee is.

I train pace - so what should I look for for good/half good 60k trainee?

Well your assistants are on pretty low wages then:)

I would have a bit of a plan of what you might train after you have trained say a couple of seasons of pace.

This might make it easier to choose trainees.

If you option was to be def (prob the easiest and cheapest trainee-wise), then a cheap trainee like this maybe.

Or him.

You really just have to scour the TL and look out for proven talent :)

Well your assistants are on pretty low wages then:)

That's loooooooads for 2 assistants! I ran on 3x good's for 2 seasons that cost me £1k each.

I really don't think high assistants are really worth it in the early stages, in my opinion.

I would go for a trainee, as your stadium is big enough, your youth coach is good enough and i presume your head coach is good enough.

The player's Sgod listed would be good buys and probably fit your budget.

I could be wrong...

...but to maximise random pops I think you need a head coach with as many high level skills as possible - yep, higher level assistants also help - but if you head coach only has 1 or 2 brilliant/magical/unearthly skills then you won't get that many randoms anyway, even with 3 assistants.

I would agree with that...primarily it is the head coach, and only to a small extent the assistants.
2008-05-15 15:31:29
Whatever you choose to do I would consider doing it now rather than in a week or two otherwise prices will soar for both coaches and trainees.

The stadium of course will stay the same cost. ;)

My preference would be the 3rd assistant at say solid as it should be fairly cheap in wages.

It appears that extra places in my arena is not a good place to spend any cash.

It lies between I of 2 great suggestions;

1 - Get a better head coach

2 - buy a good 60k trainee only

What are your youths like coming through?

I agree that at his level those assistants are a bit too much and he could go a level or two lower. But my comment about them being on good wages was relative to their GA. The lowest poss for 2 VG would be £6k, so £8k isn't so bad :)
