Is it worth keeping a junior who has a talent of 7 weeks, but will become a "very good" junior in, say, 20 weeks time?

No

Most of the time, no, because he will bound to be at least 17 and being only 'very good', probably not very good either. And if he is good, you have to lie about his talent (not nice) or sell him with unknown talent, which knocks the price down.

Of course, 7 week talent depends on the junior coach...what is it?

my coach level is incredible.

Ditch him. With an incredible coach you should be seeing pops of talented youths of no more than 5.5 weeks imo. However, I'm a relatively newbie myself so get others advice before taking my word for it. Good luck.

take him out back and shoot him. it will be a kindness.

Yep, talent of 7 with that coach is a little high. dlrspare is about right i would say with that type of coach...perhaps maximum talent of 6 could be keepers depending on what level they promote at.

are random pops a sign of talent? or just randomness?
2008-07-03 23:37:40
the first pop is pretty random as you don't know how high they started.
Speed of random pops is talent based
2008-07-05 02:11:16
no i meant that any body in the first team, not the youth team. you know when you get random pops (areas not being trained) are these a sign of talent?
2008-07-05 02:23:33
I'll try and explain this in detail.

Every week, you select a skill to be officially trained, but every other skill is also trained to a slight degree, it's effectiveness is based on talent, HC skill in that area and assistants GA.

Obviously, the other skills don't train too quickly.

Talent can only ever be determined by the second pop, never the first.

You could buy a player, and on the first Thursday, they could pop in every skill, you could buy another, who doesn't go up in a skill for 5 weeks(assuming they aren't actually beign trained), yet the second player, could quite easily be more talented than the first.

So, they aren't really an indicator of talent, they are not random pops (A term that annoys me now I know how the whole thing works), they are not random, they are trained skills, just not by any decent amount.

Just because a player has popped in a couple of skills not being trained doesn't mean they are, or are not talented.

The skills will take so long to rise in level again, that determining talent can be very difficult from them.

In one word NO.
