Subject: Junior coach ramble..

Hi. I'm not sure if this is a question, an observation or just a ramble...

I started out with a Very Good junior coach, but was frustrated with the slow progress of my juniors, so have upgraded twice recently: to Formidable 7 weeks ago and then to Outstanding last week.
I notice that the "pop-rate" of one of my juniors improved from 6 weeks down to 4 (link: Jordan Collic )
Even assuming the worst-case that his pop-rate only "actually" improved from 5.5 weeks to 4.5, I'm surprised by the difference that upgrading makes (maybe 15% per level of coach?).

If the difference really is that large, it makes me wonder if it makes much sense to open a junior school until you can afford a pretty decent (Formidable+) coach?
Your thoughts, comments or personal abuse appreciated.

you upgraded your coach by 3pts out of 17 which is a pretty big step up. i have noticed that going up 2 levels made a difference from excellent to outstanding. hoping the jump to magical will be even more effective. buti did get a couple of 4wk pops with just a excellent coach. i have been stuffed on my juniors, but could have sold one i am training and paid off the 4 seasons invested before he popped. it is a slow drain on your income but when you get a 1m pound youth (or several in DJs case) it more than pays for itself. a high level pull will take a couple of seasons in the school so you need to invest early. if you open the school on day one you have a good chance of a big cash injection just as you are pushing for promotion to or struggling for survival in 3

Over time the YS certainly more than pays for itself, or it has for me at least!

In addition to the sale price you recieve, or the new trainee you have been waiting for, you also get 5% of any future transfers up until the age of 24. This can provide a useful stream of income too, especially if you have a rather valuable player who is constantly being transfer listed!!
