Is there any way to do the following:
If my lone striker gets injured (11), move my winger (9) in to the striker position and bring on a particular sub in place of the winger. Oh, and the winger (9) who has gone in to the forward position now have ATT orders as the striker did?
answers on a postcard...

edit: see later post... i think i cracked it
players keep their match order if they move, or take the match order of the position they replace if coming off the bench. otherwise training would get all messed up.

ok. this makes sense to me if my striker's injured, but if he's actually red carded...
...my winger moves to striker (1st order), but then a sub comes on for my winger (2nd order).
who would go off to let my replecement winger on? otherwise i've got back to 11 men.

good point
but then you are the one who wants to bring on a sub. so i guess the sub would not come one.
for red cards it is best to only worry about the defenders. thn i drop my defensive mid into the back 4 wherever the red card was, drop my mid into defensive mid position, and then a striker into the mid position.

When the winger moves to position 11, he retains his number (i.e. number 9). Your second order for a sub in position 9 seems correct and the winger should be replaced. But there is another problem. I am not sure about the "no player or red card" condition. Which position does it refer to. There was no red card or missing player in position 9, so maybe the sub will not be done for this reason.
I've done similar subs and it all works fine but not as a conditional "red card/no player" order.

I'll have to set it in a few friendlies a hope my striker gets injured to see if it works - not!

not so. you need to think of the number as a position, not a player number. the players do not have numbers

Which position does it refer to.
in the example it refers to position 11. player 9 is simply the name of the player in position 9. move that player to position 11.
but as i said... the conditional orders do not really work for the scenario he wants.

Thanks for your help Dylanos - maybe I'll have to invest in a proper reserve striker.
It's just at the moment my 2nd best striker is my best winger so he plays every match, and a couple of weeks back my striker got injured and hobbled round for the last 20 minutes like a criple.
Got me thinking how would I get the winger to replace him? There doesn't seem to be a solution :(

That's what I thought and then I had the following situation. PLayer A played position 6, player B - position 7. I wanted to swap their position and replace A with a sub C. So I set the following orders (they were not conditional orders though):
46 min player A to position 7 (this was supposed to swap A and B, so that A would now be player 7, and B - player 6)
47 min player C to position 7 (this was supposed to replace player at position 7, i.e. A, with the sub C)
What happened was: the swap was done OK, but then player B was replaced by C, i.e. player B somehow remembered that he started the game at position 7 and ignored the fact that he was moved to 6.
Not that it helps with conditional orders. I agree, it probably cannot be done, but I wanted to clarify the issue of player numbers.

not had that problem. i think someone said it can happen if the orders are too close together, and then do not happen at the right time, as they occur when play stops after the time set. so if the orders kicked in at 48mins then both orders take place at once so the issue you described can occur. if you want to do what you did, then set the sub to come on 5 mins after the position swap. you take a hit on position for a few mins, but avoid the mess up.
was thinking about this. how about....
Joe Blogs = winger
Fred Smith = winger sub
1' if slightly injured Joe Blogs to position 11
1' if slighlty injured Fred Smith to position 9
so striker in position 11 gets slightly injured, and swaps places with the winger on position 9
position 9 is now slightly injured, so gets swapped with the bench

You've got this wrapped round your head.
Set an order to swap position 2 with position 3.
The players swap positions on the pitch.
They keep their numbers.
That's why what you suggest wouldn't work.
That's why the sub mentioned above didn't work - the player swaps position only, not number.
Hope this helps!

yeah had that totally confused then - i thought the position was the humber in the orders. cheers. personally i only set the conditionals to deal with red cards so never suffered for my error
