Subject: what next?

I have been playing a couple of seasons and won my league but lost my qualifying match. I have just upgraded my stadium from the original 3500 installing another 1000 benches for 50k cost. I now have 150k and normally over the two week period run at a slight loss recovering at the end of the season.

I have been training mainly pace and scoring with formidable coaches in both.

I have am mixture of trainees pulled my youth scheme and mid aged regulars with good to excellent in their main skills.

I now have 27 players and don't seem to be able to sell the excess (they dont sell for some reason).

What are my next moves?

Could you paste the players who aren't selling into this thread? I suspect it's because they're worthless and should be sacked, but you can still do this tomorrow (Friday) if that's the case.

Could you also paste your "formidable" coaches here too, any other assistants you have?

Do you have a junior school coach up and running?


At first glance, you don't look to be in bad shape. You lost to a side narrowly better than yours in the play-off, and should be aiming for 14 league wins to auto-promote this season. Do you feel you can beat Stokesay twice?

Ok I'll have a look through all that in the next half hour. Your head coach is not good though, so I will be suggesting you fire him. You need someone with unearthly in the skill you're training.

Sack Haggar, Beedall, Hampshire, Allingham, Humphreys, and Precious. A couple of them may fetch £2, but it's not worth paying their wages another week for that.

Your head coach needs replacing, but his wage is ok for a junior coach, or even an assistant. Could you now paste any assistants and junior coach in this thread too?

If you're training tech, you should have 10 trainees - playing 5 in your league game, and another 5 in your cup/friendly midweek game. Which players are your 10 trainees? I'd like to decide whether training technique is your best option before sending you off to get a decent head coach.

I have not got trainees as such but as you can see from the list I have a mixture of young and old. I was training pace alternating in different positions.

I play 442 generally which may not suit tech MID.

Ok, sack Roy Grace and Stanley Burdikin tonight. This will leave you with 3 very good coaches that have an acceptable wage.

You have some reasonable players there, but almost all of them need more stamina. I suggest you play your strongest side on Sunday and (hopefully) beat Stoke. Don't buy anyone (players or coaches) for now, and don't touch your stadium yet. I've a feeling you'll be better off investing in a few trainees, and selling a few of your weaker & older players on.

I suggest you have a read of Robnob's Newbie Guide, which is posted on this forum. It should explain a few of the basic principles better than I can!

I'll send you an sk-mail sometime after your match (probably Sun night) with some more suggestions, until then focus on beating Stoke with the guys you currently have (in whatever formation you like) - sound good?
