I have been playing Sokker for 2 years now, and I am doing pretty well, and have a good tactical understanding...

But one thing has always puzzled me...

What is the point in substitutions?

Why do we not just simply put out our strongest 11? Particularly in league games anyway... Is it something to do with training, or Stamina perhaps?

Both of the last, but mostly the latter. Recently for example, I have been putting on a sub defender on around 60 minutes for stamina reasons.

If you are blessed with a strong enough bench, you may want to put on a more defensive minded midfielder if winning or something.

Of course we are talking about unforced substitutions here. Substitutions are very important generally for red cards and injuries!

The way training and tactics work in Sokker does limit the use of subs, it has to be said.

Firstly, as much as I have read international forum people say, that 45min in league + 45min in friendly = more training, than just 90 minutes in league. I might be wrong, but that´s the way I understood that. But the difference is so little. Other may correct me if I am wrong.

The most important reason, why substitutions are important is stamina. If you have good subs, especially strikers, then definitely use them. Great strikers make a difference, when they come in 30-40 minutes before the end. Example: as a NT manager I always use my divine tech, divine pace striker in the second half and that´s substitution almost always saves my game. Your opponent defenders are tired and have lost their skills and when I bring in the player I mentioned earlier for the 2nd half, then I you can be sure it gingers up your game.

I don't think that can be right personally, but it's hard to quantify really.

I tend to agree. I have actually no idea, how or where those numbers were taken. Maybe Greg even mentioned that 45F+45L is more training, than just one 90 minute official game per week. Who knows and I actually don`t care:)

Same, but it doesn't sound logical as in the Rules official games mean more training. It would be odd if part of an unofficial game gave more training.

I think even if your strikers have top stamina they lose quite a bit by the end of the match and a sub for the last 10 minutes can have quite an impact. Even if the player is nowhere near as good

In extra time especially, if you have subs left they can have a major impact on games. If you have similar GKs, swapping GKs can be the difference between winning and losing a penalty shoot out.
