Subject: My biggest mistake / acheivement

What is your biggest sokker mistake or greatest managerial achievement?

Hopefully this thread can inspire or warn newer players and increase there enjoyment.

My biggest sokker mistake: Training keepers, or more specifically this keeper Konstanty Maliszewski. I trained him for the best part of 9 months, while everyone else in england was improving I was standing still.

My greatest achievement was purchasing Sabri Kateb, over the course of 8 months made me £3 million. He funded my current strike force.

Last season I spent ages on my tactics for my match against Forest Reserves and forgot to select them for my match and save - I played with the tactics I'd used for the match before and threw away my chance of catching Gibbage in the Premiership... Don't do it kids!

My biggest mistake was not setting my penalty taker, in a match that I drew, I missed a penalty and the 2 points lost cost me the Series III title in my first season up.

My biggest achievement was also nearly winning my series III in only my 2nd season.

I would have made many more mistakes but I listened to some great advice from experienced managers on here.

My biggest mistake was coming to sokker with all my HT- Skills and try to apply it here. Sokker is a complete different game with different concepts about game engine player skills and training. So don't do the same I did read a sokker newbie guide and improve your team.

my biggest mistake was not reading the rules and buying players that were worthless, although my achievement was winning my debut match and also getting myself known in this game by browsing through the forums and by recieving 7 votes in the England NT elections on my first time and by gettting 11 votes the second time i ran for NT

My biggest mistake was standing for NT manager in my first season when I knew absolutely nothing about the game! Got 3 votes though so not total disaster!

Biggest mistake was at the beginning, I spent too much time training stamina, without a proper coach, and then spent ages buying/selling players that were useless.

Achievement, would be finishing second in II.01

Mine was not asking for help from someone when I first started, I made some very bad decisions as a result. If I had to give one peice of advice to a newbie it would be to get a mentor early!

Achievement - Being voted in as the new NT manager for England last Sunday.

Biggest mistake = training playmaking for 2 seasons when I started

Achievement = finishing second in my first season in II and developing a national team player
2007-10-30 13:58:30
Biggest mistake: promoting to II before my team was good enough to challenge.

Achievement: Not finishing less than 2nd in the 3 and a bit seasons I've played :)

Best Advice (imo): Don't be afraid to ask for help from other players/a mentor.

I'm not sure what my biggest mistake was, but I did make a catalogue of errors (mostly due to the lack of help at the time) such as:

- fairly pointless stadium size increases
- overpaying for players, selling them with a couple of pops and still getting less money
- relying on default tactics for a fair while, and when not, not moving the ball around to change them completely

Biggest achievement was probably taking England to the Semi Finals of the first World Cup. That or winning the prem and cup loads of times.

Biggest Mistake : Playing the England central defenders too wide in the last 16 of the world cup, and giving Croatia's strikers the freedom of the middle of the park. It was known as the "mistake that was mocked across the world", as many many people (or possibly just borkos007) laughed at me in SK-International.

Acheivement : er, couple of promotions, FA Cup finalist and semi-finalist, won the election for NT coach, got England to the last 16 of the World Cup, which is as far as we should get.

biggest mistake.. = listening to gibbage who told me to sell the mighty ray ray
2007-10-30 16:38:51
Biggest achievement? Pfft, to date, probably winning my IV in both the seasons i have joined (still not promoted!)

Biggest mistake; spending over £50k on a 30+ year old at the beginning who was utter gash.

biggest mistake was not getting a mentor when i first started, and ended up with a default tactic for a season and half, and also not doing any training at all for a season

biggest achievement was probably comig 5th last season, which i thought was pretty good for the set of players i had, even though i then lost my qualifier

biggest achievement promotion in my first full season. biggest mistake a defender i bought in the first 2 weeks for £40k and sold for about half that. many more mistakes and maybe the odd achievement yet to come...
