Subject: Most Valued Skill...?

Let's use an example.

Let's say that if you spend one season training skill A, the first pop takes 3 weeks, the second pop takes 3.5 weeks, the third pop takes 4 weeks, and at the end of the season the player is in between pops 3 and 4.

Now, let's say that you're training skills A, B, and C. You could get one pop in each of those skills at three weeks, which would put you at week 9 of the season. That leaves you five weeks in the season, and you've already had the same number of pops as the first skill.

This is simplified of course, but the point is valid.

+1 benmor... The difference in the two arguements is the secondary (random/osmosis... c'mon, they are just secondary unactively trained skills) skill pops... Yes lower levels do train faster and therefore switching frequently will actively move the other lower skill levels up. However, this implies that you are switch between like position skills, or have a completely young, and therefore trainable squad, and/or are not trying to really advance one skill to a sincerely usable level. Yes, you can get more pops training an all tragic player up in each area week after week... but to what end... it takes more than one week to get a pop most times and means you are only really get 7-8 pops and since it takes longer at the higher skill levels less than that. Rounding a player out is one thing... but more pops that way, thats just semantics...

I'll just stick to my style and continue to grow my team's dominance :P

age factor included, an arguement for billys style is that if you didnt grind out training a player in one skill while he still IS young, youd miss his opportunity to reach the upper tier skill levels near divine.

in a forward trainers case, that is probably more important

its true you may get more pops switching around while the player is young, but can you value the importance of a magical pop the same as an excellent pop? or should we be counting a magical pop more like two pops instead of one. there could be benefits to both sides of this question:

against billy: as far as i know (and its would be hard to judge because form makes it weird), training performance improvements are linear, aka a pop from good to solid will theoretically improve a players performance in a skill just as much as a pop from unearthly to divine (ex: a players speed will increase the same amount).
for billy: fill in the blank

take that one home and chew on it

most valued skill: tactical competence of the manager (new guys, WATCH YOUR MATCHES and figure out why a defender wasnt in the opposing forwards face to prevent a goal)

I'll agree with you on all that fromo. I guess it is easier for me as a striker trainer to devote large amounts of time to one skill as I am only training 3. It might make more sense for a midder trainer to switch it around more.

Something else to consider, if it hasn't been mentioned before, is that all skills don't train at the same competency levels.

Meaning MID trainers will train a couple skills with ultimate efficiency, but others not as much. Same with ATT, and DEF trainers.

Each training emphasis gives built in benefits in a couple categories training wise.

It depends on what you are training. If you are training deffence maybe you try to get players with a hi speed, pass and technique because since you are training deffence that skill will go up and you will have a nice rounded player. the same is for mids or any other possition. I do think that pace training is the most difficult skill to train though!
