you can play whatever formation you can think of
but you can only have a max of 5 players set to MID orders, 5 to DEF or 3 to ATT
formations determine where a player plays
orders determine how they will play

yes i mean order, because someone told me i might lose training if i play 4-5-1???
you will not lose training if you dont have more than 5 mids, 5 def or 3 att orders on your team. even if you do play with more than is allowed you can still train stamina for the week. (just dont forget to set the training type properly)
the tough thing about formations is setting up the positioning of all of your players, but there is good guidelines that are available that will bring you step by step through process.

Hi I learned this game through Hattrick.
So far I have distinguished which players should play where by looking at their primary skills (striker, defending etc). I was wondering how I should start now (eg set-up training regime). Also is stamina important for all players?
Also if anyone has any links to good guides or tools it will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Welcome. :)
Stamina is usually a good place to start. Has the biggest initial impact on your team's play, and gives you a little time to find some proper trainees.
Hancock and Villanueva look like they have some potential. :)
This newbie guide is often referred to. Might be helpful.

No problem. :)
One of the biggest differences (from a training perspective) between Sokker and HT is the concept of "talent". Players have a hidden ability which affects the rate of their training evolution. I'm sure it's in the Newbie Guide somewhere.

a few more questions if you don't mind. Should I set places for my junior school (if so how many), and should I try to start a training regime?
I encourage teams to set junior places as soon as they can afford it. Your academy is likely where your best trainees will come from, and it takes a season or so to get reasonably products from it.
But finances are tight at the beginning, so you need to proceed with caution.
The most important piece of advice IMO is not to get carried away with coaches initially. You'll want good coaches as soon as you can afford them, but coaches salaries are a serious drain on young teams.

Alright I will leave it for now. The only problem I think I face is I am going to be promoted to II and I just start =p
You'll have a qualifying match - you don't qualify for auto-promotion. Won't know your opponent until next week, but they will likely be stronger then your side. Would be far better for your team to lose and have a season in III getting your feet on the ground.
As soon as you think you can afford it, I'd recommend you open up some youth spots.

Well thats good. Another question if you don't mind. I played my first game today, but I didn't know when (I knew the date not the time) what timezone does Sokker follow? Also what amount of finances (eg 300k) do you think I should have before opening some youth spots?
It really depends on what your current coaching staff is earning. That is the major drain on your finances.
I don't think you've played a home league match yet - so you don't really have an idea what income you'll get there. Economic update is Saturday, which will give you a little idea what your sponsors will provide.
It costs 1 000 $ for each youth position you maintain. You can't add any more then 6 youth per week (so 6 spots at max). As soon as you have youth you think are worthwhile, you'll have to hire a youth coach.
If I were you I'd probably open 3-4 spots, and hope for something promising. So long as your coaches aren't too extravagant.
You're in Ontario - so Sokker time is 6 hours ahead of us.
