I'm allowed to play with this formation right? The rules don't state what the minimum players for each order is, just the max (5 defs, 5 mids, 3 strikers)

Sure! You can even play 5-5-0 if you feel so inclined. Generally reserved for special situations (-:

Yeah i knew about that, just wasn't quite sure about 2 defs

If hattrick will let you do it, why not? (-:

I frequently use 2-5-3 (with respect to player orders ... not positioning) when training striker with just my CBs with DEFs. No problem with training (which I'm sure you've already figured out).

I don't really see much benefit for training striking for defenders, even some mids. Defending is a lot more useful skill to have for all players

Errr ... what? :D 2-5-3 is 2 defenders and 3 strikers. The 3 strikers have ATT orders and get training. I'm not sure where you got the idea I train up my defenders striker skills ... :)

Has anyone tried playing a striker(in his normal striking position up front) with a DEF match order??
What are the cons of that??
2009-02-10 06:13:08
Why do you want to do that? Do you want to train him as DEF?
2009-02-10 06:14:18
Yep
2009-02-10 06:17:52
I wouldn't do that, but is your choice.
I think he is going to kick out the ball (but he may score that way).
WHen I play MID as DEF they usually don't move the ball as much as when in MID order.
2009-02-10 06:20:58
hehe wouldn't that be funny, breakaway, passes the goalie and then just boots the ball to the sideline
2009-02-10 06:25:44
I wouldn't train a ATT in defence

old thread, but it is easy to play strikers with DEF orders, they don't shoot as well, and they waste a few balls, but overall they will create more chances and if they are in the box they shoot just as often as strikers, very effective on corners
