Subject: Mentoring New users

its an idea... might be a good one if a few people can take on one person who you just pm once a week or whatever to see how they're getting on, or just answer questions..

we used to have a welcome message, and i think it might be worth adding a link to people you can mail with questions about the game..
when you start, getting tactics and stuff like player selection right is a problem, so it might be a good idea..?

In the German speaking countries we're sending a welcome mail with some information to the newbies, but hardly any ever answers.
I personally don't know how efficient it is, you certainly should try not to overflow newbies with information.
And like you write, it might be good to give them some links so that they know where to collect the information ;-)

i been loooking through different countries there recently.. scotland have the same userbase as us, but much more active users, and a way more compeditive premier, and first division system...
its what made me consider this, as most of our winners of the first division are only scraping by in the premier, and winners of the second division are going to get hammered in our division this season (2 new teams via auto promotion averaging 32 whereas rest of league is close to 40)
longterm, its needed to encourage new users i feel.. although as you say. too much information is useless as its ignored.. a simple mesage is whats needed

EDIT: lol one of the new teams is facing me in the cup :P
have my reserves out to face them anyway, but if they are worse than the last new users 19 mark average it shoud be fun!

seems they are intorducing tutors now anyway, so ill gladly do it in ireland anyawy

i just applied there now. it might be an idea for someone who speaks polish (madrista) to apply also, just because i can see there being polish questions :P
or maybe it decides who to send the question to depending on their language choice.. i dont know yet..

LV, the irish admin..so far as i know its the admins you get onto.. no word yet though..

LV isn't our admin anymore, one of the English guys is doing it.

yeah its wdp.. pming him at the moment.. he's asking about who else is interested.. i said i didnt know if you were, other than that possibly madrista for the polish contingent we have, or welchy.. i dont think we need more than 2-3 anyway.. depends how active it is

I'm interested in it but not until after the world cup, that forum is keeping me very busy right now. I'm also looking for somewhere to live and probably won't have the internet for a few weeks so it doesn't make much sense for me to apply at the moment.
