Tactics Guideline
How to create tactics, what are the basics of a decent tactic and how do I adapt the tactics for my match:
1 – Creating tactics.
Here you’ll read step by step how to create tactics. I suggest you keep this text in one window, and sokker in another window, so you can just follow this guide.
Step 1: visit your training page by clicking on the ‘training’ button in the right sided menu.
Step 2: click on ‘tactics’ in the upper menu. Now you are at the ‘tactic editor’ page. This is the place on sokker you’ll use everytime you want to create a new tactic.
Step 3: On the bottom of the page you can see a section ‘create new tactic’. In the scrolldown menu, you select a tactic, it doesnt matter which one, but it might be wise to select one that is close to what you want to create. As example, if you want to play with 4 defenders, select a tactic with 4 defenders in the scrolldown menu. Below the scrolldown menu, there is an empty box. Here you can type the name of your tactic. If you have selected a tactic in the scrolldown menu and have entered a name, click the ‘create’ button. Your tactic now appears in the green field on the right side of the screen and its name is on top of the green field.
Step 4: Now we begin with the real editting of the tactic. Move your cursor over a player in the green field. When you do so, you will notice that the ‘arrow’ of the cursor changes into a ‘hand’ (similar to the ‘hand’ when you move over a clickable button). When the cursor has changed to the ‘hand’ symbol (when the cursor is pointing on a player figure), click and hold (keep pressure on your mouse or touchpad). If you move your mouse or touchpad over the green field, you will see that the player moves along. Release your mouse button and the player will be placed on the nearest position. This players’ repositionning is the first important thing in creating tactics! Put the 10 fieldplayers (keeper is never shown) on the positions you want them to stand during kick-off.
Step 5: Now we move to the second important part of creating tactics. So far, you have placed the players for the kick-off positions. But sokker allows you to reposition and place your placers on the field, FOR EVERY POSITION ON THE FIELD! Take another look at the green field that represents the soccer pitch. The field is actually divided in 35 squares (just check the different kinds of green!). To create a fully functionning tactic, you have to replace your players on each of these 35 squares, like you did for the central square in step 5! To select a square, move the white dot (which represents the ball) that is in the centre of the field, just like you did to move players. Select and hold the ball, move your cursor to the square next to the center square and release the ball. Now, repeat step 5. Move the ball to all the squares and reposition your players. DON’T FORGET TO CLICK ON THE SAVE BUTTON (right bottom of the green field) after finishing a square. Two other useful buttons are the ‘copy’ and ‘paste’ button on the bottom of the green field. If you have placed your players for a square and click on copy, then move the ball to another square and click on paste, the positionning of the first square will be copied to that of the other square. This will allow you to create tactics faster, as you only have to do some minor repostionnings then.
2 – Basics of a decent tactic.
Now you should be able to create tactics using the 35 square editor. But what should I pay attention on when creating a tactic. No tactic is perfect, but below are some basic rules.
• Do NEVER use a last man. Always keep your defense on 1 line. So that when moving the ball on a row (horizontal) of 5 squares, the defenders are always one 1 line next to each other. This will help you putting strikers offside and avoid situations of 2 strikers against 1 defender.
• When the ball is on your half, your players should be positionned lower than when the ball is on the opponent’s half.
• Make sure your players move along with the ball. If the ball is on the left side of the field, your players should be moving to the left side of the field. And vice versa of course.
• Make sure your strikers are deep/high enough so that they dont have to run 50m towards the goal of the opponent when receiving the ball.
• Place your midfielders so that they can easily get the ball and can easily pass to your strikers. Try to use midfielders as ballcarriers from defenders to strikers.
• Create a tactic that suits your players’s skills! If you only have 3 midfielders, do not create a tactic with 4 midfielders and put a defender on the free midfield position. This will surely lower the efficiency of your tactic!
• If possible and you have the right players, you can try to adapt your tactic to the oppenent. As an easy example: if the opponent plays with 2 wingers, it is better to use 4 or 5 defenders, as 3 defenders can never catch up with a well placed winger.
3 - Use tactics for a match.
We now have created the tactic and want it to be used during the next game. Click on the ‘matches’ button in the right side menu and then on the ‘matchorders’ button below the match where you want to use the tactic. On top of the page, you can click on ‘team’. Do this. You now see a green field and the list where you can select players. First of all, select your created tactic from the scrolldown menu on the bottom of the green field. Click on ‘save’ below the player list. Now you will see that the players on the green field have moved. They are now standing on their AVERAGE position from your tactic. Now you can complete the match orderd by selecting names and giving conditional orders. Don’t forget to change before shifting from the ‘team’ page to the ‘orders’ page and after you entered your conditional orders.
