Inter to All
Hi All,
Firstly a big thank you for voting me into the position of South Africa U21 Manager, its a amazing country that i had the pleasure of visiting a few years ago and i believe we can push up those rankings a few spots.
I'll try not to bore you too much with my ramblings but just a few ideas/points taken from working with smaller nations in my last 3 management jobs.

Keep Youth Schools Open (Where possible) - for the lower league teams you can play and train straight out of the school and can be a quick way to have players drip fed into your squad and to turn a profit. Not saying you'll have the next Messi but personally ive had some decent returns and think people are a bit negative on the youth system on the whole! And for the bigger teams, your the lifeblood of South Africa in both the U21 and future National team players.

Sell All Unwanted Youth Recruits- Try and sell everyone you aren't going to train (once you offer them a contract to first team), even if you think they are pretty average someone else might have space to train them. It keeps the South Africa national pool bolsted and you get a small percentage of the next few sales as a bonus, i find its a good way not to lose so much money per poor player as you've already paid the max school fees anyway so dont just sack them please!

I will do a bit of a purge and clear the squad to 0 on Monday, before going through the databases and teams/leagues etc.. and adding back in and creating my squad. So please message me if you believe your player should get some minutes and that i have missed them (I'm not scary i promise!) We're on a pretty poor run so ill try and get some tactics in order, and hopefully we can turn that around a bit once im familiar with the squad. I've hopefully got us a friendly against my last team at the weekend and entered into the Africa Cup later on in the season. I see the last manager had a new player forum thread so feel free to carry that on, and ill give regular update on this thread as we go.

Big thanks everyone, and lets push South Africa onwards :)

Hi all,
just sorting out a team for saturdays match vs Senegal and its very clear that we are really short of midfielders (unless im just missing the on the database!) so if you have any that i haven't called up please let me know, thanks

Not updated everyone for a while, and to be honest im a little bit gutted in the end with the African Cup results... Unfortunately we needed a win against Nigeria in the final group game to qualify, and despite higher average marks we lost 1-0 finishing in our original seeding position of 3rd place. Given the time and effort put into the NT i was looking to pip Nigeria to 2nd but it wasnt to be.

I will say its not all doom and gloom! i love the NT side of things and although its tough with few active South Africa players (and i do appreciate the player producers) we have slowly improved over the season and i have tried to bring in some younger players as most of the team is 21 which will be a problem next season. Other key problems are Midfield/defensive Midfield, and better quality players being slow/quicker players being weaker at key skills etc.. but your always going to have that with small nations. It would probably pay off to use the 19/20 yr players more and more now the main competition is over so please mail if you have guys to develop, and thanks for letting me take SA U21's on its another test on here which is always good :)

Sorry for the ramble, just a bit of an update.
