El Salvador

El Salvador is a small, spanish-speaking country in Central America. Their capital city is San Salvador. There's about 7 million people living there on 21 thousand square-kilometres. It must be quite crowded :)
They have a short and rather violent history. Spain set foot on the country in 1524 and colonised the country in a few years. El Salvador declared its independence in 1821. Since then, mostly an oligarchy of a few families ruled the country together with the military. In 1979 a Civil War broke out after a coup d'état, it lasted till 1991.
There's not much to say about their sport. Only a handful of people took part in the recent Olympics with no notable results.

They have 33 users and this is their 7th season in the game. They occupy the 80th position on the world ranking. This is going to be the first match between the two countries.
Their NT-coach is called Alex. he's from Panama. He won the domestic cup once, and currently plays in their first division for the 3rd season. That's his second season as the Salvadorean NT-coach.

As I mentioned, we're going to play with reserves and low-form players. Hopefully we can still achieve a comfortable victory.

Svens, anna Tiisveltile vähe putru ja vaata, et ta kaine peaga postide vahele satuks.

Damn, they scored :/ I didn't think they would come with such offensive tactic after they played the hedgehog against Bosnia.
2009-09-26 13:25:40
yep, very bold tactics from both sides :D
there were 15 goals as i predicted - but not in that order. who would have thought that they score against us? :s
it was fun watching El Salvador keeper bouncing around in the second half....doing incredible job, i must say...

anyway, good entertainment and compliments for El Salvador.

I think oliver only conceded 1 goal in his qualifications and this can still be repeated. Really cool you played Ämar!

I can say I made a goal against Eesti :D

Congratulations for the victory and good luck in the World Cup ;)

Nippon

"The Land of the Rising Sun"
Japan is an island country in East Asia consisting 6852 different islands, although the 4 biggest take the 97% of its land area. About 128 million people living there on less then 380 thousand square-kilometres. This results in a huge population density, especially in the bigger cities. Its capital is Tokyo, more than 12 million (!) inhabitants living in the city, the population density is more than 5000 people/km^2 there! And there's another 18 million living in the Greater Tokyo Area, making the area the largest metropolitan area in the world.

Its government is a unitary constitutional monarchy, in other words they have an Emperor and a parliament. Japan is one of the largest economic power in the world, and is the only Asian country in the G-8 (although I think it won't last long with China and India closing up with great speed).

Uhm... this is where I normally write about the history of our opponent, but Japan has such a long, traditional and eventful history which is very hard to condense in a few words. I'd rather post this link instead: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_Japan

The Japanese sport also has a big tradition, their national sport is obviously sumo. They are also very good in martial arts, baseball, football (they co-hosted the 2002 WC), technical sports, winter sports, etc, etc, etc
They also hosted the Summer Olympic Games in 1964 (Tokyo) and the Winter Olympic Games in 1972 (Sapporo) and in 1998 (Nagano).

And I still didn't write anything about their exciting culture and their technology. No problem, we'll have another match soon :)

Sokker

This is their 12th season in the game and although they have only 20 users, they are pretty strong. They're occupying the 46th position in the world ranking currently.

Since I was their NT-coach in the last 3 seasons, I know the whole team ;)
Japan's biggest strength is their defense, there are a lot of quite good players there with plenty to choose from. Mostly double brilliant players or better, so we won't score loads of goals. They also have divine keepers.
Their midfield is thie weakest point, there's only a few good players there, the others are lack passing and technique. Their defender skills is quite good though, so we'll need mids with high technique.
Finally the strikers: most of them are out of form since last season, there are 3-4 players around triple brilliant, the other are considerably weaker.

Players to highlight:
- Yoshiro Nakata and So Sahara (divine keepers)
- Toshiaki Arai (divine def, first divine outfield player)
- Tadaaki Yukio (plays at my club, double magical)
- Ekiken Hirajima (only 23y old, I'd consider him the best defender atm)
- Reiichi Inoha (their best mid, pretty high passing, nice technique, bit slow)
- Taisuke Hiraoka (their only good striker in form)

Japan's NT-coach is chi, she has NT-experience too, since he lead the Nippon-NT a long time ago :) She owns a lot of NT-players, she also won the first league and the national cup once, but look at her silver and bronze medals!

Previous match:
Eesti 6:0 Nippon

ps: sorry for my disappearance this week, I had some rather busy days at the beginning of the week and I also managed to catch a flu so I have to rest a lot. The betting game takes a one-week break, I'll make a double round next week to compensate for the loss.

i think you should lose, not pretty to win a lady :s
2009-10-03 11:26:43
Third slight injury for Kole from the last 4 NT matches - I think it´s clearly a hint:)
2009-10-03 22:26:53
...to me that I need to prepare a conditional order for his injury ^^
2009-10-10 12:14:26
Did Kole got the injury or not? Overview shows that he got it, but actually there is no injury?
2009-10-10 15:44:26
He suffered a slight injury only, he recovered since then :)

Honduras

Honduras is another Central American country just like El Salvador. The country has roughly 8 million inhabitants on a slightly larger area than for example Hungary. Its capitaly city is Tegucigalpa.

Honduras, just like every country in this region, was a Spanish colony from the 16th to the 19th century. They declared their independence in 1821 and then joined the United Provinces of Central America along with Guatemala, El Salvador, Nicaragua and Costa Rica. The union had a short history only, they fell apart in 1838. Since then, Honduras is independent.
Probably the most notable event in their modern history is the so called "Football War" in 1969. That time a lot of people from El Salvador immigrated to Honduras while Honduras made a huge land-reform which resulted in taking away the land from thousands of Salvadoreans. The tensions rose when the two countries met in the qualifying round of the 1970 World Cup (El Salvador advanced to the WC btw), and on the 14th of July El Salvador launched their attack on Honduras. The war lasted for four days, about 2000 people lost their lives till the ceasefire was declared. The peace treaty came only eleven years later though.

Honduras has one World Cup appearance, they played in the 1982 WC and drew with Spain and the Nothern Ireland but lost against Yugoslavia, thus finishing in the last place of the group.
Their U20 team is however much more successful, they qualified themselves 5 times to the U20 World Cup including the ongoing World Cup this year, although they've never managed to pass the group phase. At the current WC they beat the semi-finalist Hungary 3-0, but lost against South Africa and the UAE, so they finished 4th.

Sokker

Honduras plays its 11th season, they have 59 users and they occupy the 87th position on the world ranking.
Their NT is currently 4th with 4 points, they won against UAE, drew with El Salvador and lost to Japan and Bosnia until now. They have some fairly good players, they are definitely the 4th best team in the group with an average of over 50.
Their NT-coach is a native guy, called jac_caballo. That's his first season with the Honduras NT. He spent 5 seasons in the Honduras first league without a major result, but at least he played two cup semi-finals.

As usual, I'm going to play offensive, although not as offensive as against the UAE or El Salvador. I don't know what to expect from their side though, but since Bosnia defeated them 7-0, I hope we can score at least 10 times even without our best players. Next week we'll have a tough match against Romania, so I'd better not risk their health.

The match starts at 7 PM Sokker-time, go Eesti! :)
