Hi,
Next season I want to organize an U-21 Asian Cup for the National Teams. The friendly season will start then, which is generally boring. To spice it a bit up for yourself and also for your local community, I thought it might be cool to add some competitive tournament to that.
As the name already says, it will be a tournament only for the Asian countries. There are 18 countries that can join the Cup:
as-Saūdiyya
Australia
Daehan Minguk
Hayastan
Hongkong
India
Indonesia
Iran
Kazakhstán
Malaysia
Nippon
O‘zbekiston
Pilipinas
Prathet Thai
Singapore
U.A.E.
Vietnam
Zhōngguó
if you feel your country is in asian and didn't mention please free to apply, perhaps i miss you from the list
There will always be teams that do not join, but I am aiming for 16 participants. That is a good number for a nice set-up for the Cup.
The Cup will start immediately at week 1 next season (16 April 2010), and the Final will be at week 11 (25-May-2010). Here are all dates:
If we able to get 16 participants the cups will use groups stage and then knock out stage. We will play home and away in groups and knock out stage. The 16 participants will divide into 4 groups – 4 countries each. So in Groups stage each country will play 6 matches. Best 2 of each group will advance to Quarterfinal for best (1-8) while others will play for places 9-16. Quarterfinal and Semi final stage also will be play home and away in normal mode, and aggregate score will count, nation who won aggregate will go to Semi final and then final stage.
I decided that all teams play all match, no matter if they get 'knocked out' or not. This has 2 advantages:
1 - Everyone knows in advance which weeks they have scheduled. Unexpected knock-outs might result in difficulties in arranging a nice match for the week afterwards. Now we avoid this problem, and you get your matches scheduled automatically.
2 - We get a complete ranking, from 1st to 16th place.
Week 01, 16-4-2010, Match Day 1 (Group Stage)
Week 02, 23-4-2010, Match Day 2 (Group Stage)
Week 03, 30-4-2010, Match Day 3 (Group Stage)
Week 04, 07-5-2010, Match Day 4 (Group Stage)
Week 05, 14-5-2010, Match Day 5 (Group Stage)
Week 06, 21-5-2010, Match Day 6 (Group Stage)
Week 07, 28-5-2010, Quarter Final Leg I
Week 08, 04-5-2010, Quarter Final Leg II
Week 09, 11-5-2010, Semi Final Leg I
Week 10, 18-5-2010, Semi Final Leg II
Week 11, 25-5-2010, Final Stage
Best regards,Barros.

Pre-match considerations :
First match of Asian cup tomorrow against India,a very strong team with an expert manager as coach. As usual we have studied many hours a good tactic for this new adventure,we know our limits but in the past we have already demonstrated that we can fight for some good results with obligation and hard work. We'll see,the most important thing is anyway to help grow this new group of young players and to prepare them for the future.
