How do you feel about the last game? I would like all of you to participate in the process of building the NT, so I really need to hear your opinion.
I guess the tactics was maybe not perfect and it needs to be worked on but there were a few good chances to core more than one goal.

Our next game will be against Saudi Arabia, a pretty solid team than can surprise their opponent. I'm thinking of giving a chance to some of the younger players. How does it sound to you?
2014-11-24 23:12:15
Giving chances to younger players sounds nice :) Maybe you should start considering "retiring" some of the older players if their skills start to diminish :D But if their skills still remain the same (or even get better), we'll need their experience and skills for the next world cup qualifiers :D

About the last match, I think the tactics are alright. The players suit their positions but maybe still needs a little more editing. I can't really give a specific thing to edit because I was expecting a close match between Pilipinas and Malta so I'm happy with the result but I think we can do more :)

What about you? What do you think of the last game?
2014-11-25 00:42:53
Of course we can do more and I'm gonna make sure it happens.
As for the older players - I got in touch with their club managers and gained all the info I needed. Even though some of the players are 30+, they still haven't lost any skills but I'm constantly monitoring their situation and if anything bad happens to them, I will surely consider some other options.

And as for the game, I'm glad that the victory was achieved, the most important thing. We also had an advantage in match and player stats, so I guess noone can say that it was a lucky victory. It was fully deserved.
The idea of playing with one winger was the right choice, he had a lot of space there. The only mistake might have been the player I decided to put there. Austria had the ball received too many times, because of pretty low technique. I thought his pace and form would be enough to outrun the defender but somehow the chases after our winger were successful. To sum up, the tactics need to be corrected and it will be tested again in one of the future matches. It looked pretty fine to me but it for sure was not perfect.

The ntdb is freshly updated and I precisely know how the players look like. Thus, it comes easier to set the squad and to find the ideal places and tasks for all the players. I'm also hoping this order will remain :)

I don't really have an idea how to comment the game. The younger players did well, even better than I expected. A lot of clear chances and bad luck in finishing them. I'm disturbed by the injury of Noy, it looks bad and seems like he's gonna be out of the nt for about 4 weeks.
Your feelings about the game? I would like to get some more opinions. Even the critisism sounds fine, as long as it is motivating.
2014-11-29 11:47:24
I'll be honest. I'm disappointed. Choosing young players to play in national team friendlies is alright but I have a lot of questions and some suggestions.

1. Why were there only 4 substitutes?
2. Why did some low form players play? (Caceres, Fernandez, Alimboyugen)
3. I think that the gap between the midfielders and the defense is too big. The defenders are playing too low and are giving lots of space for the opponents. They aren't pressing the opponents and if they are they only do it alone. That is not really a good thing if we're going to play against opponents with strikers that can shoot long distances. In our case, our defenders tried to tackle only when their forwards was already in the penalty box and those failed tackles gave them the chance to score...
4. Offensively, I can't see what's wrong but for some reason the midfield is having a difficult time creating chances. The midfield of Pilipinas is strong and we have many players with different skills. We just have to think of a tactic that would fit them.
2014-11-29 12:12:16
1. I put 5 players on the bench, that's awkward to me as well, especially with the fact that I checked the formation several times. Noone was suspended or injured.
2. There are very few young defenders, so I decided to give them a chance despite the form. Even with average form a divine or unearthly defender will be a lot better than an outstanding or even formidable one.
3. I had to set them low because of the pace. There are not as fast as the older defenders, so they need to be in front of the opponent's strikers to tackle the ball. The gap was big, sure, but there weren't any Saudi Arabia's midfielders using it, only the strikers that couldn't get through the defensive line, at least in the first half of the match when didn't make a single shot. A long range shot is a lottery, sometimes you try it twice and it's in the net twice. Sometimes you try it 5 times and all the shots lands in the stands.
4. I think the same. The ball was passed around precisely and i was really satisfied with it. All the 9 shots were made from the penalty box in a one on one situation with the keeper, so it is a good sign showing that there was no trouble to deliver the ball to the strikers and put them on a clear position.

There's no explanation for the loss and I'm as mad as you probably are. I guess the luck wasn't our ally today.
2014-11-29 12:19:47
I think that we can still improve tactically. Yes, our defenders may not have the pace so that's why they have to work together. Instead of only one defender pressing, you can have one going nearby. In the opponent's goals, they were mostly a free shot because our defenders weren't able to get the ball while the other defenders didn't go near the player with the ball.

"There's no explanation for the loss and I'm as mad as you probably are. I guess the luck wasn't our ally today."

Now, I am getting disappointed. :( With this mentality there is no way to improve. Sokker is a simulation with parameters and not a gambling game. I allways accept the fact, that I could do better - even if I allways do my best.
When I take the responsibility, then I have the ability to response. If I give the responsibility to the bad luck, then I can do nothing except praying...
2014-12-13 22:19:54
Nine goals... now I am impressed :)
2014-12-14 00:43:36
I didn't expect this game to go so well, I'm positively surprised.
Btw, I'm sure I also responded to the massage above your last post regarding the match with Saudi Arabia. Where did it go? Some kind of magic must have happened here, cause I would bet my right hand on that with full consciousness.
Well, I wrote that I'm not explaining the loss by having bad luck. I meant more like lack of luck on our side. I don't know how to call a situation like that when you're having about 7-8 good one on one scoring opportunities and finishing only one of them and your opponent has 3 of those and scores 3 goals. I could just say that it was not our day to win the game even though we were a better team. I'm working hard to improve the nt and I will not let go until the position of the nt coach is mine. Today's match proves my ambition and we will keep going that way ;)

Great win :) It sucks that we had to concede a goal at the start of the match but I think the tactics match the skills of our players :D

Pamintuan is also a monster at such a young age. He'll probably be one of the best forwards for Pilipinas :D
2014-12-14 03:19:42
wow! very impressive! Nice job Vampyr!
