I would like to welcome 9 new players to the U21 squad; Modesto Agunod, Kelly Alcantara, Benedict Cabaccan, Yousif Co, Celino Guingcangco, Homobono Hinahon, Franco Mandac, Bryan Sawi and Gec Tabang. If you have potential U21 players, please don't hesitate to tell me about them, especially U20 players.

This friday, May 10, 2013 we will be having a friendly against Indonesia (U20 + 3 U21). Indonesia ranks 50 while we rank 74 so we need the best players to get a good result :D It will be my first match so I hope that I will not disappoint you. It's my first U21 match and I must say that I'm glad that most things worked out well for Pilipinas U21. We played against the U20 squad of Indonesia, which also includes 3 U21 players and even with that they gave us a difficult match. Thanks to the high form of most of our players we were able to give them a good fight. The result in my opinion is better than what I expected :D

We had great chances to score but unfortunately we were only able to convert them into two goals. Austria was the main focus of our attack and in my opinion he is the man of the match, but of course with the help of the midfield and the rest. The red card on the 80th minute is a big blow and from the send off, it caused troubles defensively and ended up in a goal from a free kick. Nonetheless, I am glad with the result :D

Please feel free to suggest :)

Next week: A tougher opponent, Danmark U20

I decided to take a risk tonight and use an U20 starting 11. Our defense was surely tested as we faced Danmark U20 team, a highly ranked team. Fortunately for us, our defense was able to withstand the attacks of the team, both with skill and some luck. Unfortunately though, we weren't able to really test their defense, especially their keeper, because of their solid back four. I'm satisfied with the draw, but I'm sorry if I wasn't able to bring out the best of our offense.

Next week: al-Jaza'ir / Algeria U21

Today (or last night) we won against Algeria U21. I believe that we dominated most of the match and didn't give the opponent clear chances (except for the penalty which they luckily missed). Their great keeper made it very difficult for us to score but still we managed a 2-0 win :D

Next week: Al Maghrib / Morocco U21

Great match against Al Maghrib U21. It was a very even match in terms of the statistics but it ended with us winning. Our keeper Tabang had a great game, saving a lot of shots and a penalty kick, but unfortunately he wasn't able to keep his cleansheet. Austria, our attacking midfielder, also had a great match scoring a hat trick. Unfortunately, it is not all good news for us as our promising midfielder, Aguilar, will miss about 3 weeks of matches and training.

Next week: Prathet Thai / Thailand

I'm sorry :( I made a bad tactic.. or at least i used the wrong tactic. It may also be because of the absence of one of our best midfielders, Aguilar, but i still think that it is mostly because of the tactics :( We have only a few chances (which I believe is because we only had 3 defenders and had 3 forwards who try to keep dribbling the ball) and even worse, with the few chances, we wasted them. I do hope that I will bring you a better result next week.

Next week: New Zealand
