Mr Tsolias, what about the game?
Last week I told "I think we can make a surprise, even if Torquemada has much better players". If you see the game, you can see that the team with the bigger chances in the second half was Pilipinas. We could equalise the game and make the surprise.
What does this game mean to you? Do you still believe that Pilipinas may qualify to U21-WC?
This game was a test game. I checked 2 tactics against an opponent who plays with his strikers attacking from the sides. I made my conclusions, so I can finetune my tactics.
And do you still believe that Pilipinas may qualify to U21-WC?
In most of situations I tried to win a game against teams with 10 points more in average mark, I won or I got a draw. If somebody can bring Pilipinas to WC, this is me.
Acelio_1216 accused you in the forum of doing the worst thing you can do, by playing with 3 defenders. What do you have to say?
First of all, I sympathize with his love and with his worry about the team. On the other hand I read "playing with 3 defenders is one of the worst things you can do" and I feel frustrated. Who tells we are playing with 3 defenders? Take a look on the screenshots and count them! How many are they? 5, 6, 7? I am tired of this story. How many times must I say it again. The screenshot of the tactics is bullshit. It shows only 3 central, because the defenders on the wings follow cautiously on the attacks. If you want to read the tactics you have to watch the game, or at least see the screenshots.
I am not frustrated about Acelio_1216. I am frastrated about the exaggeration. Acelio_1216 wants the best for the team, like me, and it is good so.
Will you quit in 2 weeks?
Au contraire! I have very important reasons to stay.
One reason is that I believe that small teams can make big surprises.
The other reasons have names. marc8 (because he still surprises me with new players), Peppolone (for showing me what really matters in training, bulacañeo (for his effectiveness, even when we disagree), tingeltangelbob (for training Ren-Ren Cambay), zuvatti (for training Baltazar Grey), of course alsoacelio_1216 (not only because of his love for the team, but also because he reminds me that results are the most important thing).
If the Pilipinas community and acelio_1216 still want me to bring their U21 team in the finals, I will continue.
Please take a look at following table:
Take a look at the value of the opponent teams. I could book games against teams like Belarus or Albany, make 15 wins and everybody would be happy. My concern is to modify the best possible team for next season, for the qualification. Everything else would be cheating the community of Pilipinas.
So, you can trust me or trust me not. Just speak directly and let me know if you still trust me and I continue, or not and I have to leave.
Something more, you want to add?
Yes. When I started with Pilipinas I told one thing.
The importance of training. Every team of the Premier League and of League II could at this time afford to have 3 magical (15) trainers and give the best training to the players. Do you know how frustrated I feel when I realise that teams prefer to have a national player, even if they can´t give him the best training? I have posted it on the forum and everybody can ask me how to do it. I hope that after this, some users will reconsider things and beliefs about training.

I'm sorry I didn't choose my words wisely. I watch the U21 matches and I know that our wingbacks go back to defend :) What worries me is when they counter attack (and our wingbacks are still up front) or use wingers. You're doing a fine job with the U21, especially with the nice results against stronger teams, but based on my experience, WCQ matches are different from friendlies. I know that your tactics are unique and are effective sometimes but there are times that they fail (but it's really a good thing that you adjust them and I've had lots of moments of failing tactics too). The world cup qualifiers will start soon and I think that you should try playing with other tactics :) Lastly, I'm pretty sure that you'll still be the U21 coach next season because you have my support and I know that you listen and cooperate with the country's managers :D

Mr Tsolias, what about the game?
We played first time with a static 4 player defence. I don´t think it´s worth to discuss about that tactic and this game. After the 4th goal we changed to "ts 4-1-3-2" tactic and avoided the 5th goal.
Their goals are from long range shots or crosses. What was the problem?
This has more to do with tactics. Players of young age and low Tactical Discipline experience big problems in defending.
But rival teams have also young players! Isn´t a problem for our rivals?
Yes they have. That´s a good reason for us to benefit from it by giveing as many games as possible to the players who will fight for qualificaion and by playing with tactics which are bringing better results.
Who decided to play with this tactic?
I decided. It´s me who decides about the tactics the team plays and I am full responsible for the 0-4 result.
Why didn´t Booc played in this game?
He was not allowed to play, due to a red card.
What about next game?
We play against Serbia. Serbia plays with extreme winger and there is a sokker community of 131 uers.
I expect that some of our players will have a better condition. If a team has no relegation game to play, everything else except stamina training this week is nonsense.

Press Conference
Mr Tsolias, what about the game?
I am very angry. I am angry about myself, mostly about not taking care for the standard situations, the throw-ins, not taking care for positioning the right man in the defence and not taking care for the red card situation when our final striker is no more on the pitch. What do I mean?
- First situation: 7th minute and Pinagbuklod makes the throw-in, allowing so the Serbian striker to be allone and he scores 1-0. The player for the throw-ins should be Kabaong; this is something to change.
- Second situation: 15th minute, a Serb passes from the side, Borje and Magpantay run to his side leaving Pinagbuklod, who is slower, alone in the central area and 2-0. Positioning problem, my fault and the fact that Booc was suspended can´t be an excuse; I had to care more.
- Third situation, 27th minute, exactly the same throw-in as in the first situation and 3-0.
- Fourth situation, 28th minute, Dimayuga, Pinagbuklod and Magpantay normally are making at this point straight pass to our final striker. This time he is off the pitch because of his red card. So they don´t make a pass, they keep the ball, they loose the ball and 4-0... Whose fault is this? The coach had forgot in case of red card to give the advice to the second striker to move to the top. Yes you got it, I forgot...
- Fifth situation, 50th minute, Dimayuga is in the same defence line with Magpantay. Dimayuga looses the opponent, for Magpantay it is too late and 5-0. Against an error in positioning.
Five goals by mistakes. Five goals which could be avoided. They could be avoided if I would take more care... I don´t speak about the 6th or 7th goal; they can happen, especially when you play against Serbia. But if you want to beat teams like Serbia, you have to take more care about the details. I counted 8 situations where Aromin had nobody to pass and lost the ball, because Bigalbal was off the pitch. Whose fault is this? Aromin? No, the coach just forgot to give the order to Manuyong to move on the top in case of red card.
Iporong didn´t play, why?
He should replace Bigalbal early on the second half, before the system change. We changed to 5-2-3 on the 70th minute and even in this situation I made an error! Jabol should replace Dimayuga and not Grey! I wanted to play with more long passes and counter attacks.
Are you satisfied with the 5-2-3 system?
This is the only thing I am satisfied with. The last 20 minutes. After the system change, Kabaong and Aromin stayed back and it was difficult for the Serbs to attack. They could only attack through the central area and scored only one long shot goal, like we did.
Manuyong scored to goals, bu had big difficulties keeping the ball. Do you have the same opinion?
Manuyong is valued 1,5 million P. and the opponent who was close to him, Barjaktarević, is valued 6,5 million P.. I think Manuyongs performance with his 2 goals was more than satisfied.
Here is an actual statistic about the U21-teams which had so far a game today. Pilipinas U21 is in the bottom 10 places in average mark. Has it to do with the number of the activ users? Can something else be done?
It has to do with the fact of the only 18 users and we can do something about it. If you see the statistics, on number 3 in average mark is Österreich/Austria. How can the Austrians have such a strong team? The answer is easy. Just take a look at the austrian eleven. Only one (1) player plays in Austria. The Austrians bring their players in the transfer market, so that teams with better training staf can buy them and give them better training.
I wrote an article about training yesterday. If you can afford to pay for 4 magical (15) trainers and train only one skill, then keep the players who are trained in this skill. This is the best you can do. If not, it is better to reconsider selling them. On Monday, every team will have enough money, the sponsors are paying - the time is now!
Can you give us an example?
I will give you a positive example. There is a player who made 4 popups to outstanding (12) in the last three months in his basic skill! His coach asked me if he should sell now, so that he gets other kind of training. This is a thing I am missing in Pilipinas...
When the ball is at the opponent's side, I think that the defenders are too high up in the field. Isn´t it risky?
It is a big risk when the defenders are slow. Pinagbuklod is not the fastest one and I have to think again about it...
Was it a surprise that no goals came from their wingers?
I thing our wingbacks are very fast and they played closer to our half, than in other games. Especially on the last 20 minutes they stayed more back and so, the Serbs attacked only through the middle.
On the other hand, wind attack needs better players. Young players often run outside. This happened more times today.
Most of the goals came from our defenders' mistakes (especially due to low tactical discipline, destroying the offside trap) and also somewhat due to lack of skills. Can we adjust the tactics to maximize the limited skills of our players?
As I told, the biggest problem today were my mistakes. I have to adjust the positioning in defending, I have to adjust the throw-ins and I have to take care about red-card situations also about our target-striker.
What about next game?
We have no sceduled game. I am looking for a strong opponent.

I just want to clarify things. I thought Booc was suspended last week? How come he is still suspended this week?
Yes he was suspended last week due to red card on 26-10.
I was confused too, when I checked today, before the game and he appeared in the 11-selection still in red colour...
I was confused too, when I checked today, before the game and he appeared in the 11-selection still in red colour...
He got sent off in the official game and suspension last untill next official match. He's marked red because there was no league or cup games, only friendly ones. He will be available after wednesday's cup matches.
His punishment is only for his club's matches, not for the U21 matches.
If you see the description of the player you will see that is marked with red card, but down on the page which looks the matches with U21 of him, it is marked the yellow card, which mean that he has one yellow card in the U21's matches.
He is availiable for U21's matches.

Regarding the table you made about the average mark of the players and the number of users in the country, here are some comments:
1. It is a very interesting finding and I agree with you that considering the number of managers the country has, it is a low average mark.
2. I think that some times average mark is not really a good measurement of player skill. Some reasons are, if a goalkeeper never touched the ball for the entire match, he usually gets half of his usual average mark. I've also noticed that defenders get lower marks if they don't defend that much in a game (especially if you play against a very weak team). Player marks also change if a player plays for a very short while and has a few touches of the ball or doesn't touch the ball at all.
3. Having your players play in another country does not guarantee that they will get better. There are only few Filipino players that will actually get the interest of foreign clubs. In this match, the players who still play in the Philippines play for 4 clubs, my team, Real San Rafael C.F., F1 RedBull and Belo Hobbits. I think that players in the first three teams are getting good training while unfortunately for the last team, I doubt that he gets good training because Belo Hobbits does not have a manager anymore, which brings me to my last concern.
4. I've been noticing for the past seasons a great decline in the skills of the U21 players. When I was U21 coach about 4 seasons ago, I remember that the team average value reaches 1.5 to 2 times the current, a lot of them, I use in NT friendlies. Which is why I think the biggest problem that we have is not that the players are still being trained here by coaches who would really train them, but because the once great clubs of the premier league are beginning to disappear.
From what I remember here are the main sources of youth players about 4 or more seasons ago and their current status:
1. Real San Rafael C.F. - still remains as one of the best sources of young players
2. F1 RedBull - another great source of young players
3. SAMF FC - the team has been replaced
4. SanderKit9 - team still produces young players but is not as active before
5. Galacticos Rie - the team has no more manager
6. Belo Hobbits - the team has no more manager
7. Wiser4Media CF - team still produces young players but is not as active before
8. CS Liverpool - team still produces young players but is not as active before
Out of the 8, there are only 2 left that still provide quality youth players actively, and they are also teams that both have an all Filipino team and trains some of the current U21 players.
Besides the loss of important teams, another problem is that most of the 18 teams that the country has are relatively new and cannot afford a decent youth school yet. The 18 teams:
1. Real San Rafael C.F. - active manager, player since 2009, has youth school and U21 players from youth school
2. F.C. Ace - active manager, player since 2011, has youth school and U21 players from youth school
3. Wiser4Media CF - last logged in 2 months ago, player since 2009, has youth school and U21 players from youth school
4. Mactan White Knights - active manager, player since 2012, no youth school
5. CS Liverpool - last logged in 1 month ago, player since 2009, has youth school and U21 players from youth school
6. SanderKit9 - last logged in 1 month ago, player since 2009, has youth school and U21 players from youth school
7. Armed n Loaded - active manager, player since 2012, has youth school but no U21 players from youth school yet
8. Sogod Soccers - active manager, player since 2009, no youth school
9. Makati Red Robins - last logged in 2 months ago, player since 2009, has youth school but no U21 players from youth school
10. Cebu F.C. - active manager, player since 2013, no youth school
11. F1 RedBull - active manager, player since 2009, has youth school and U21 players from youth school
12. Malabon Soccer - active manager, player since 2010, has youth school but no U21 players from youth school
13. Deportivo de Davao - active manager, player since 2013, has youth school but no U21 players from youth school
14. Bohol Raiders - last logged in 2 months ago, player since 2012, no youth school
15. global fc - last logged in 1 month ago, player since 2013, has youth school but no U21 players from youth school
16. Pasig Club De Futbol - last logged in 2 months ago, player since 2014, no youth school
17. Quezon F.C. - active manager, player since 2014, no youth school
18. argintina - last logged in 1 month ago, player since 2014, no youth school
So basically, out of the 18 there are:
10 active managers
11 youth schools
6 youth schools that contribute to the U21 team
6 youth schools with active managers
3 youth schools with active managers that contribute to the U21 (Real San Rafael C.F., F.C. Ace and F1 RedBull)
I think the most concrete way to improve the U21 team is to have teams like Mactan White Knights, Sogod Soccers and Cebu F.C. to open up their youth schools and to improve the youth schools of every team, especially those who haven't had U21 players from their youth schools.

First of all I am very happy and thankfull that you are so engaged in NT/U21 matters.
I just want to give you my point of view to your points.
1. & 2. Average mark: I totally agree. It is just an indicator and especially the GK can push the average mark up or down. Additionally, when a team plays against a team coached by me, then his average mark is 1-5% lower. The same happens to teams coached by me, the average mark is 1-3% lower than with standard tactics.
3. Training: For me good training is a team of 1 head coach and three assistants (all brilliant-14 or magical-15) and training the same skill for more than 10 weeks per reason.
For example, as U21-coach I would like to know that you train only Striker for Ibuna and Iporong, or only Defending for Magpantay and Sunio. If you train Pace, then, it is too much for Magpantay. It would be better if he trains Defending. If you train Defending, it is too much for your attackers.
Of course there is a risk by selling them, but teams who have a lot of money, mostly have good training staff and their managers want to maximize their value by giving them the training they need.
4. Past seasons and Future: I have noticed. Now it is 41-44 and before 4 seasons it was 47-50. I think the main differnce is you had a GK with raiting from 60 to 70 and 2 strikers with rating above 60. Now there is no star in the team, so I have to adjust the tactics...
I find it very important your information. It seems worse than I thought.. I make some thoughts about what can improve the situation and I want your oppinion about the following:
Teams specialize in training only one basic skill (GK, DEF, PLM or STR) and train young players (16-20) till their basic skill climbs to very good (9), or excellent (10) or formidable (11). Then they sell them.
If somebody trains consistently one skill, then e.g. the trained player in age of 17 can develop in this skill from average (5) to excellent (10) in less than 2 seasons, he will be just 18 or 19 years old. If you sell an 18 or 19 year old player with basic skill excellent (10), then you can make more than 5 million P, especially when the NT or U21 coach advertizes for him, looking for a pace-trainer or a technique-trainer. With the 5 million P you can finance your training staff.
The total amount spended per season for training staff of 5 brilliant(14) coaches is arrond 14,4 million P..
The total amount spended per season for training staff of 1 brilliant(14) and 4 outstanding (12) coaches is arrond 10,5 million P.. The difference is less than 5 million P.! It is something that every team can finance.
And after selling 2 or 3 youngsters per season, or after making big sells for more than 10 million P, the next step is financing 5 magical coaches. This will cost arrond 24,5 million P. per season.
I don´t see something else that could develop the NT better. If you have another plan, let me know. Otherwise join this plan and make it happen!

I actually thought of the idea regarding "specialization" in training before but it's really difficult to do that. And personally, it's really difficult because most players will want to train midfielders and forwards rather than defenders and goalkeepers.
The best and simplest way that I think would be great for the NT is simply by just having Filipino players and training them the best way you can. SanderKit9 used to train goalkeepers. Real San Rafael C.F. and F1 Redbull gives general training while I train pace. But to be honest, I think that if there are really great Filipino players that come out of the youth school, I don't think that any team here would waste them. The greatest players usually go to Real San Rafael C.F. or outside the country. I personally can't afford great U21 players which is why I usually buy the "good enough" players and train them the best way I could :D

I have good news :)
Now we have 2 specialized coaches!
kp22 (Armed ń Loaded) has bought Irwin Salita and he plans specializing in attacker-skills-training for this season.
(The other specialized trainer is you, with pacetraining) :)
