(The other specialized trainer is you, with pacetraining) :)

That's great! It's also good that he has a U21 player in his team :D I was lucky before that one of my first players (from the starting team) made it to the U21 team XD

Press Conference
Mr Tsolias, what about the game?
Our opponent defended in a great way. We had no single chance. I think this could be a nice example of how to defend in some of our next games.
What is your opinion about the way the Pilipinas U21 team played?
By mentioning the word "team", you start a big discussion. What is the difference between a selection and a team? I see more a selection than a team! This is not an U21 team, this is an U21 selection.
This would be a team if there would be some teamwork and cooperation. This is something I missed in Pilipinas. Who should organize this teamwork? This should be made by the coach, by me. I think it took too much time for me to start organizing this teamwork, like the forum initiative. I have to apologize for this big delay.
The results of this delay make me angry. There is no striker in our team with a skill better than excellent. Only one striker of the selection has a better technique skill than very good. This makes it very difficult to score.
Goalkeepers? Take a look at the values of our opponents goalkeepers and then in ours - they are ten times more valued..
Don´t fall in the trap to say Pilipinas has only 18 users. We could have extraordinary results if there was no delay. If I had not hezitated by suggesting the Pilipinas community to specialize in training, if I had not hezitated in suggesting to sell players, if had not hezitated in involving more people in a teamwork.
The result now is an U21 selection, which is result of individual work, not teamwork.
To be clearer, the result is an average mark of 41 to 42 points.
What makes an average mark of 41 to 42 points?
For me, I don´t know any manager who can beat teams with an average mark of +20%. This means, the roof for me is an opponent of average mark 50.
Qualification games are starting next week. What are the chances of Pilipinas U21?
I will write an article about this in the coming days.
What about the tactics you used?
We played as in the last game, with tactic change in the last 20 minutes. The errors produced in last game did not appear in this game.
Are you satisfied with the result?
Of course not! We had no single chance in the attack. I am aware of this fact. There is a lot of work to do untill next Friday.
Do you have the match schedule of the new season?

Those awful back passes were the reason why we lost 4-0 :( As for the tactics, besides the low tactical discipline, if one of the centerbacks go forward, no one covers for them so maybe we can do something about it :D
Hello everybody,
It is an honour for me to be elected again, despite the 9 lost games of the 16 total the U21-selection has played. Τhank you for your vote!
I tried my best for the U21 team of Pilipinas and I promise to continue giving my best.
_____________________________________________
Νow a few words about the draw and the qualification games, as I promised.
The draw for the qualification groups is made according to the U21-worldrank:
One team from the 1st pot (rank 1-16, average mark 62-50 / România av.m.:58),
one team from the 2nd pot (rank 17-32, average mark 56-48 / Brasil av.m.:56),
one team from the 3rd pot (rank 33-48, average mark 54-46 / Zhōngguó av.m.:50),
one team from the 4th pot (rank 49-64, average mark 51-42 / Pilipinas av.m.:42),
one team from the 5th pot (rank 65-80, average mark 49-39 / Sénégal av.m.:45)
and one from the 6th pot (rank 81-96, average mark 41-25 / U.A.E av.m.:~37)
Group H was a bad surprise for me, for mainly one reason. Most teams in pot 2 have an average mark of 50 or lower and we got the team that should be in pot 1, Brasil that makes an average mark of 56. It couldn´t be more difficult for the qualification. So, we have 2 teams in our group who are by far stronger, Romania and Brasil.
There is one more reason to be upset. We could have some luck and get a beatable opponent from pot 1 and we didn´t.
This draw brought 2 difficult groups. Group I with Italia, Slovensko and Österreich and our group H with România and Brasil.
So, now is the time for me to fulfill my promise. I promised you wonders and I have to act. Let us pray together... :P
This was humour and humour is my weapon if I feel uncomfortable... The first thought I made when I saw the draw last week was to resign. After a few moments I saw the opportunity. I told to myself: If somebody can make big surprises, this is me. Just try for the best, have fun, and if the results should come, they will come.

Mr Tsolias, first qualification game is over, what about the game?
Different feelings... I am sad because we lost. I feel satisfied because we outclassed tactically our opponents with a masterpiece of tactic. I am angry because it is very obvious, that the players of Pilipinas don´t get the best training.
What do you mean when you say "we outclassed tactically our opponents". Haven´t you lost 2-0?
Yes, we have lost and it hurts. But, none of the goals came from a tactical mistake. They simply happened as result of steeling the ball and dribbling away, not only from one player, but from more players. The chinese players are simple much better in qualities than our players.
By saying we outclassed them tactically, I mean following facts. Despite China has much better players, they had in the hole game only 4 chances to score and we had 3! Chinas chances were in minutes, 7´, 27´, 53´ and 75´ and ours in minutes 36´, 36´and 47´.
Unfortunately there is a big gap in the quality of their players and our players. Their scored twice, our none.
What about the positioning of your strikers?
Perhaps I could place them on the center. On the wings they were catched over 10 times by the wing defenders. The central chinese defenders are faster than their wingers, so I don´t know if it would bring a better result.
You told, you are "very angry because it is very obvious, that the players of Pilipinas don´t get the best training" What do you mean?
It is not a secret, that users from Pilipinas want the best for their national team. So they buy players from Pilipinas and think this is the best way to build a strong national team. This is not. In most cases, this is a catastrophy. I am still looking to find a way to make it clear. If you have 1 magical (15) headcoach and 3 brilliant (14) assistants, keep the player, train him and let him play. If you don´t have such a training staff, then sell the players who can play in U21. It is better for them, it is better for the finances of the team which sells them, it is better for the national team. It is a win-win-win situation.
Are there any examples?
Guatemala, Canada, India are coutries with about 20 users. They sell their players to teams with better training staff and the result? They have an average mark of about 50. They have quality players who developed faster as our players do. It is simple. They showed trust in letting native players to move in bigger clubs.
There is a model followed by Greek and Austrian teams. They first sold their young players. With the money they financed their training staff. And now? Now they train faster and better. Now it is not a catastrophy to keep the native players in team, because now they can give the best training to their players.
What about next game?
You have to understand that the things I just spoke about training young players is much more important than next game.

Mr Tsolias, first win in qualification game, what about the game?
We had to play against the weakest team in the group, which made the big surprise last week by holding a draw against Senegal. This time there was no surprise and our team managed to play our opponents on their half. I think our keeper touched only 3 times the ball.
Are you satisfied with scoring only 3 goals?
Yes, I am. It is much better than 0-0, which was the result of their previous game against Senegal - and remember, Senegals team is stronger than ours, and also the goalkeeper of the United Arab Emirates is best valued than any of our players.
For about 40 minutes it seemed that you have no way to score. What would you do in this case?
In this case we would change our tactics and bring a third striker in the game, but we scored.
Something special about the game?
I am satisfied with 3 things. The way the defence played and especially Magpantay. I had some concerns about letting him play in the side, but this time he made everything right. The second thing is that Cambay is getting better in form. The third thing is Iporong with his 3 goals and especially the third goal. It was a masterclass goal of teamwork!
What about next game, friendly against Germany?
I will ask the German coach to use a tactic like the Brasilians or the Rumanians use and I will try several things.
What about next qualification games against Brasil and Romania?
I want to see first their games, thank you.

Mr Tsolias, what do you have to say about the game?
First of all I want to thank the German officials and especially the german head coach Moppi, for their hospitality. He fulfilled every wish I asked.
First, I asked to play against Germany, in order to have a strong opponent, equal to our next group-opponents Brasil and Romania. He accepted, and the fact, that the german team is valued twice as ours is the evidence.
Second, I asked to play in Bavaria, where I lived for 16 years in the stadium of the team where Ren-Ren Cambay plays. This was also accepted and the Germans organized a big christmas celebration party with Glühwein and Bratwurst for free!
Third, I asked Moppi to use a tactic like the brazilian team used, so I can test some things and he also did so.
Is there a statement in the sokker forum, that you asked the german coach to let you win?
Yes, it is written in the german forum. But... but I deny that I asked the german coach to let me win. The truth is that I asked Santa Claus and not Moppi, for a win.
What is the main conclusion according to the game and to the tactics you used?
In the first half we played with the flower-tactic. The offside trap worked in all cases, 12 times! There are some few things to improve in this tactic, like the positioning of the wingers, and to find a way to attack.
In the second half we used the 5-3-2 tactic. Perhaps, there are some few adjustments to do in the offside line.
In general, I must find a way to be more dangerous. Our strikers had just 3 chances in the second half and no single shoot in the whole game.
The camera caught you applauding in minute 61 when Toblin scored his second goal. Was it sarcastic?
No, no, the opposite! It was a wonderful shoot, a beautiful goal. It was the highlight of the game.
What about next qualification game against Brasil?
I will ask Santa Claus for a favor...

I will ask Santa Claus for a favor...
I think that 3-0 is a decent score against one of the top teams in sokker. The offside trap worked very well, in my opinion, and I don't think that the goals scored were because of failures in the offside trap.
As for the defense, I would still like to see a 4-man back line because I think some, if not all, of the goals were because of us lacking players in the back line. Although I have to say that I've noticed the improvements in the midfield helping out the defense but sometimes, a 3 vs 3 (such as playing with 3 defenders against 3 forwards) is a little too risky, especially in counterattacks with very skilled forwards.
As for the attack, I think that the situation is a little difficult because we don't really have great forwards so I am suggesting of looking for other ways to attack, such as through the wings. I've noticed that a lot of your tactics involve mostly plays in the middle (which I think suits our midfield and defense). Playing with wingers may provide a little more opportunities to attack without our forwards having to bring up the ball by themselves but I understand that it is also risky since we would lose players in the middle.
All of these are just my suggestions based on my past experiences as U21 and NT coach. I think that you're doing a decent job but I think that you can still think of better tactics :D

" through the wings"
There are no quick midfield wingers. So I think of Bigalbal in this position or somebody else... (It could be Ibuna, if he had better form)
