Mr Tsolias, what about the game?
I would like to start with our opponent team. I expected them to be strong in the defence and they were strong. I expected them to have a very strong striker and we should eliminate him and we did it.
And what about the Azkals?
Our team played after the age update with 6 players in the age of 21 and the rest were players who will fight in the next qualifiers in 17 weeks.
I was surprised by some statistical figures, despite the shrink of the sokker community in Pilipinas.
Here they are:
Before 5 seasons: average mark: 40,8 ; value of starting 11: 21,6 million P.
Before 4 seasons: average mark: 44,9 ; value of starting 11: 26,5 million P.
Before 3 seasons: average mark: 44,1 ; value of starting 11: 30,3 million P.
Before 2 seasons: average mark: 46,8 ; value of starting 11: 34,4 million P.
Before 1 season : average mark: 49,6 ; value of starting 11: 34,7 million P.
Toaday´s game : average mark: 49,7 ; value of starting 11: 38,7 million P.
I expected both figures lower.
Of course they are so high also because of our goalkeepers in the past 3 seasons and if we want to remain in such high standards, then we have to train 1 or 2 goalkeepers in the age of U18.
One of them is Efren Salonga, 18, and as far as I know, he trains pace. If we can find somebody who trains goalkeeping, it would be perfect.
Have you something to tell to the community of Pilipinas?
Yes, I will repeat myyself: Please give to our talented players full individuall training.
I mean that I want them to get as much training as possible. For example, if you train in a week technique for MIDs, I want them on this week (a) to play with MID instruction and (b) to play if possible 25 minutes on Sumday and 90 minutes on Wednesday, or 90 on Sunday and 15 on Wednesday.
And something more: The future of the team are the 16 and 17 year old players; give them more chances. They popup about 50% faster than in the age of 21.
Is there something new about the coming season?
Yes, some games are arranged. Next week we play against Israel; it was scheduled before 16 weeks. The week after it we will play again with Israel. It will be our first U20 game of the season and Israel will have a new coach, the experienced italian coach BrianKorn.

What about coming U21 game with Israel?
We played with Israel last season exactly at the same week. Now they have better players and I think it will be very tough.

I knew we had with a strong opponent to do. Israel´s team is better than in the past season and ours is weaker.
The value of the field players of Israel is double as ours. It was like Vevid against Goliath. However our tactics worked fine and we were very close to a win.
What was the weakest point of the Azkals?
Defence and playmaking. I know that some players are training on defence, but they still need time. I worry about the midfield. All midfield players of todays game are 21.
Is there something more, that the community can do?
I spoke in the past about giving full training to young players in the age of 17 or 18. The 3 main teams in Pilipinas are mostly doing it very well. But 3 teams are not enough to achieve better results with training. I think we have reached our maximum. Take a look at other nations with equal number of users and you will realise, that we are overperforming.
Which nation do you mean?
Belarus, India, Canada, Guatemala, República Dominicana, Honduras, Malaysia, South Africa, Nicaragua, Bolivia, Sénégal, Kazakhstán, Al Maghrib, Hong Kong, New Zealand, Andorra, Shqipëria.
Those nations have an equal number of users and academies. Most of them make an average mark of arround 40 and the value of their field players is also lower.
They have no chance of qualify to a world cup - we do! Have you realised, that if we had won the first game against Chile, past season, then we would finish in the 2nd place and make one of the biggest sokker-surprises?
Do you think that this is possible in the future?
We will not hava again the same strong team like past season, but the next team will also have his chances. It also depends on our opponents. Last season we had a very strong group with 4 teams reaching an average mark of over 50. At the same time there were groups with only 2 teams reaching this mark and there was also 1 group with only 1 team reaching it. So, it´s also a matter of luck.
What about next week´s game, is it again with Israel?

And today... today we play our first U20 game against Israel´s U20. Israel has a pretty nice team, I estimate their team value arround 30 to 40 mil.P. It is 3 times (!!!) higher than ours (13,5 mil. P).

Our U20 team is very weak and the form of our players is also weak, it has an average of 11. On the other hand, the israeli players are in best form and they have a very promising generation. I expected it to be very tough and I was also surprised by the tactics of the new italian coach of Israel, BrianKorn.
What can be done for having better results in the future?
Training! I will tell it again: Train at least 1 player in the age of U18. Even if he looks now poor, his age will help him to improve faster. The difference in amount of training between the age of 17 and 21 is near +50%!!!
Is it true, that it was the lowest U20 performance of a team, since you are coaching the Azkals?
Yes, it was the lowest average mark and the lowest team value, but we playedd without our injured goalkeeper Lester Alcázar and it makes a big difference. That´s why I repeatedly told that ceqcfc of Quezon City F.C. did the most important job, by training goalkeepers.
What about next week´s game?
It´s the last test game of Paraguay before the world cup. Their team is strong and they have a lot of alternatves. Our players in the age of 21 are in the moment in good shape. I hope we can make a surprise.

Mr Tsolias, what about the game?
Our U20 team is very weak and the form of our players is also weak, it has an average of 11. On the other hand, the israeli players are in best form and they have a very promising generation. I expected it to be very tough and I was also surprised by the tactics of the new italian coach of Israel, BrianKorn.
What can be done for having better results in the future?
Training! I will tell it again: Train at least 1 player in the age of U18. Even if he looks now poor, his age will help him to improve faster. The difference in amount of training between the age of 17 and 21 is near +50%!!!
Is it true, that it was the lowest U20 performance of a team, since you are coaching the Azkals?
Yes, it was the lowest average mark and the lowest team value, but we playedd without our injured goalkeeper Lester Alcázar and it makes a big difference. That´s why I repeatedly told that ceqcfc of Quezon City F.C. did the most important job, by training goalkeepers.
What about next week´s game?
It´s the last test game of Paraguay before the world cup. Their team is strong and they have a lot of alternatves. Our players in the age of 21 are in the moment in good shape. I hope we can make a surprise.

Getting to be competitive with only 8 users for in a country is complicated! Sokker.... you need to make a good team for Tsolias!

1 user with only foreign players (perhaps he is also a foreigner - he never came in contact)
and 1 user who makes his first steps and a plenty of mistakes...
That´s all - where are users munber 7 and number 8? At the moment there are just 3...
Ah! I forgot! There are also a lot of friends in other countries, like Ortwin in the Czech Republic; without their help it would be more difficult :)

When I started in Pilipinas U21, in the Azkals (the national team is referred to as the "Azkals", a word that is similar to Filipino term Askal meaning street dog) I thought we can get the qualification to the WC, thanks to my tactics. We were in the same group with Brazil coached by your majesty ;P and Romania. The perfect lesson to realise that we need better players...
So I started to play a new game: Is it possible to train effective 11 players with the potential to qualify for the WC? The answer was yes and no. Yes, because we had 11 players and no, because some of them had miserable form! So I learned, that we need more than 11 players..
Now, for the next try, next season, there are 6 strikers. If at least 2 of them are in perfect shape, then we may surprise... - Oh God! I am still dreaming... :P
PS: By the way, watch out Greece (Hellas)! I think the greek community started to train more effective than ever. Great days are coming ;)
PS²: Watchout the 3 main teams in Pilipinas: F.C. Ace ( acelio_1216), Real San Rafael C.F. (bulacañeo) and F1 RedBull (marc8). The roster of these teams have mainly players from Pilipinas and they keep the balance of train effective the U21 players and the NT players. They deserve to be respected!

Mr Tsolias, what about the game?
I am positive surprised by the result. I knew that Paraguay has not the best strikers and goalkeepers, but I also knew that their defenders and their midfield players are "class A"-skilled and in great form. I also knew that our strikers are in worse form than the strikers from Paraguay.
However, with having in great form our defenders and Cabungcal, I took the risk to play with our second attacking tactic. Cabungcal created the second goal, scored by Agbulos and the MVP of the game, our goalkeeper Alcazar madee miraculous saves.
You present it like a big win. Is Paraguay so strong?
They are not so strong like Italy or Brazil, but they are much stronger than Pilipinas. They have at least 4 times the users of Pilipinas and watch the value of their field players, in comparison to ours - 36 mil.P. to 26 mil.P..
What is the next game?
I do not know. Next week starts the U20 mini world cup, the "Mamma Mia Cup".

It was David against Goliath. You can see it on the value of the players and on their forms. I was very disappointed to see that our opponent in the first U20MWC-game would be Bulgaria. At least I am now partly satisfied by the way we lost.
Our team was very close to a surprise.
Very close? According to the statistics Bulgaria had 17 shots and your team only 1!
According to the game I saw, there was only one big chance in the first half and it was a one-on-one chance by Agbulos!
On the second half had Bulgaria it´s first chance to score and Alcázar saved on minute 49. 6 minutes later they had their second chance and their substituted striker scored.
After this, Bulgaria had another chance on 63 and we had a chance to equalise on 72.
Do you still believe we were not close to a big surprise?

I wasn't able to read anything like that :P You know my situation right now and that I am not that active anymore as before but I was able to watch the last match and I was surprised with the result too! It confirms that making you the U21 coach is a very good choice!

- Marc trains perfect and he never writes something here (of course I prefer this, than vice versa),
- bulacañeo told me last season that he will spend less time with sokker (but he will continue with his excellent training),
- ceqcfc also told me that he will spend less time (and to avoid damaging the team he sold his U21 player)

Well to be honest, I am surprised that I am still able to manage my team (select players for each match, watch some matches, update you on training) so do not worry about being alone :D

I believe Cabungcal has just become the player with most U21 NT caps under Tsolias. If only I knew how many U21 NT caps Pamintuan and Austria had. ;)
