Vogue [del] to All
We are playing an U23 match this week against República Dominicana which is 2 seasons younger than us and an even smaller userbase.

Starting team and tactic will be posted tomoz about 10 to 15 mins before the game starts as usual but feel free to babble about the game in the meantime :)

Surprise us !
(not with results, with tactics...)

It'll be a surprise to myself the way I am going :P

:D

it seems no one expects you to play a sokker tactic. Hard to choose between Normal and Sweep though ...
2008-06-27 19:53:55
The choices vary slightly more than that tbh :P
It all comes down to what mids I decide to use that will decide the tactics. Keeper, defenders and strikers all pick theirselves :)

How about you don't bother with a midfield?
2008-06-27 20:44:45
Now that would be fun :P
2008-06-28 12:52:09
ok, here we go :P

Due to a massive lack of choice when it comes to mids, I had to go with the boring 4-4-2 formation as I just didnt have 5 mids to put in the team and chosing those 4 wasnt exactly the easiest thing to do too :)

On on a not so important side note. Even though this is an U23, five of our players are 20 to 21.

And one last thing, if this all goes wrong, blame Matt :P

edit: the line up would be useful to post too :P

thanks and you too :)

Well, that was a lil frustrating to watch. Conceded 2 soft goals there and I wasnt overly impressed with hale or cockings. A general lack of pace also showed in that game.
2008-06-28 13:35:25
Yeah just watched it, wasn't exactly a belter lol
2008-06-28 13:46:40
that sucked...
haven't seen a 'descent' flanker.

I know we don't have the best midfield, and that using flanks isn't so easy as it seems. You could also use 1 'high' flank instead of 2, to secure your central midfield.

Lack of technique, pace, an offensive midfielder.
We also played too defensive, that saved our life. Bad positioning of the midfielders.

(- * - * -)

- = midfielders
*= huge gaps between midfielders

Solution?
2 central midfielders, like this with 1 (or 2) high flankers (=(-)) !

( (-) - - (-) )

But we won and learned something more

its not tech they are lacking, its pace :(

There was no options to do anything like that with the mids we had. Their strikers is the best part of their team and on par with ours so I had to cover them and using a 3 man defense was not an option IMO.
If I had used offensive wingers, it would've left an even bigger gap just ahead of our defensive mid who played crap to put it plainly.

Sadly, I cant make our players(mainly mids) better just by looking at them :P

edit: and as matt said, alot of it was down to lack of pace, we were chasing the ball way too much and not making it there half the time.
