and the fact that we pointed out that Morely was in the wrong position before the game makes it even worse!
Also with the tactics, i think you got the mids way too open.
and Smithe (and Johnston) arent wingers
and Tipton cant imo handle the central mid position on his own :p

Argghhh.
The defense cannot be played like that in NT. I believe I mentioned that you play a defense with the CB's too wide. The amount of striker space they had, only some Beddy heriocs and the woodwork saved Rhys from my wrath. Still annoyed. And err, Morley for Gray? Morley seems to be a defmid from what I've heard.
And you played a narrow tactic against a defense that was obviusly going to be compact. Where's Seward on the wing? I would have done a tactic like this imo.

It's a very tough jump to NT level and I did say although we should have won this game it was never going to be a gimme.
A couple of things need to be sorted out imho, but firstly as Langhe (and others) is hinting at we need to get players playing in the right positions in a formation which is perhaps a little better suited to sokker than the one you tried today.
rhys if i was you with the players you are not sure about ask some of the other managers via mail for their opinion, don't be afraid to ask :).
Good luck with the next match and don't get too beat up about it!.

.. and Probin ain't no defensive midfielder either ;)
Anyway, it's a good learning experience.

Okie, I really dont know where to start but I guess it should be with thank god they only played 1 striker as that could've been alot worse than it already was if they had put 2 strikers out.
I think your first and "maybe" biggest mistake was you probably took a look at Ecuador, saw the very low ratings(and I mean the country ranking points there, not the individual player rates) and thought woot, easy win, wrong as you found out the hard way. I'm not sure how their rates are so low but if you were to take a look at their players, you would see that they are not that far behind us.
Following on from the woot, easy win mistake, you then made a 4-3-3 tactic basically, which against a team not that far behind is suicidal really as we were never gonna get enough possesion with only 3 mids and the lack of shots we had shows that.
To put it bluntly, never use 3 strikers unless you are playing against a team really really low and even then, I think it would be better to use 3 defenders and 4 mids as possession is still needed to score goals.
Next up is the defensive line. Always, always, always play your defenders in a straight line, the amount of times their winger passed to their "free and only" striker was shocking to say the least. This was mainly due to both CB's holding hands with our keeper instead of being there to tackle their striker(s) and having no defensive mid didnt help either. I think tipton may have been playing a part time role as defensive mid but you also pushed him up high so there was no way he was gonna get back to do any tackles whilst he was trying to play in the central mid position at the same time.
Next up we have player selection which seems to be another very big problem.
Do you have all the players on some spreadsheet or even notepad so you can see the skills of the players you are choosing when you do the line up?
We went over this last week and yet I still see the likes of hewitt as a defnder sub and morley as an attacker which you even brought him into the game as a striker. If you had a reason for bringing morley on as a striker, I would like to know what it is as it is baffling to me to say the least. I could go on with a few other mistakes but this post is starting to get long now and it has already been said by others in this thread anyways.
To finish this post off though, I would like to reccomend a couple things to you.
1) The next time you make a new tactic, base it off one of the tactics that have already been made and leave the back line alone and just tinker with the other positions that you feel needs changing to work against the team you are about to play. Nobody is gonna pick faults at you if the tactic you make is similar to one already made. You dont have to make a tactic completely different and out of the box to show you can make a tactic.
2) If you are unsure if you have picked the correct players, feel free to mail the line up to myself or any other experienced manager. I'm sure matt would be willing to help you out with the odd mail as I am sure langhe would too and ofcourse I am more than willing to help too. I remember sending a few mails to morsey when he first became NT manager. Even langhe asked me for advice on player selection last season and he is a better NT manager than me imo.
There is no shame in asking for advice or a different prospective :)
Anyways, I hope you read this and take it as constructive criticism only with the only aim being to help you and not a flaming :)

I made the point about the CB's as well. Also I think they seemed a bit too wide.
erm, sorry about that. I'll take on board the comments given to me and try to rectify the mistakes made against Ecuador. This is going to be a long season for me. Sorry again everyone :(
just been sent an update of Chris Morley. That name is really getting on my nerves
No worries hopefully in the next game you would have taken some things on board and we will be progressing :D.
Small steps and all that.
Just get that defence in a line :)
