Subject: Cymru to Wales
So is Scotland going to be changed to Alba then?
Tbh we should be happy having our proper name in our own language rather than being called by our English name.
To be fair, it's not actually a very good comparison.
In 2001, about 1.2% of Scottish people had a gaelic speaking ability. It's a lot higher than that in Wales at 20%+

It's still a minority language, in which case I think it is a fair comparison.
By the way the 20%+ is just people that can claim to speak Welsh, not those that actually speak it as their first language. That'd be down in single percentage figures.

Why? The majority of us speak English. Do you hear Irish people going round saying they're from Eire? Can't say I've heard many doing that.
and if users were to stop looking for Wales, missing Cymru and selecting England we might have double our current users :/
If it wasn't for rhys telling my specificly to look for Cymru when i registered, i would of probably been In Scotland or England at this time.
Also Spain for instance has 27% English speakers (more English speakers than we have Welsh), so perhaps we should rename them Spain.
There is no logic to Wales being called Cymru.

My I ask why your name is a Welsh word rather than an english word? Dragon already taken?
Anyhow this is never going to be changed if Greg has basically said it then that is it. It's his ball and he's taking it home :).

I speak some Welsh, and I love the Welsh language. However, that doesn't mean we should exclude the majority of the population that speak English. It makes you no less Welsh to not be a Welsh speaker, and as I've previously said English is the majority language in Wales.
This thread has nothing to do with Welshness or exclusions. It was to see what people wanted the title of country on an internet game. Unfortunately the person incharge of said game doesn't want to change it, therefore case closed.
