Hi all, I wasn't sure if I was going to continue coaching NTs this season but after giving it some thought I have decided to try and get one more shot at a WC.
Why Wales?
I used to have a U21 player for Wales, I think he was the best striker at the time (I train strikers :P) and after a disastrous attempt at running in a country where no one speaks English (apparently google translates WC to 'toilet' in Russian), I thought I should stick to an English or French country :P I also like to be the underdog, and with a small community and decent U21 Wales can be a threat with the right management.
NT Experience
Three terms as Canada U21 coach, and two as the Canada NT coach. My first time as U21 coach I was only a few months new and had just started making tactics. Needless to say, the first few game didn't go well, but by the end of the season I was able to beat a stronger U21 team. After a season or two, I ran for U21 coach again and won, this time during the WCQ. I am proud to say that I am one of the few (I don't know how many people have actually done this but I'll assume it's only a few :P) coaches to qualify for the WC from a 4th seed. The next season I ran again, but all of my best players were gone and most of the starting lineup was just 20 and so I only managed 1 point in the WC group.
This season I coached the NT in the qualifiers, and was well on the way to qualifying from the 3rd seed but some bad luck and lack of conditional orders took me out (playing with a 442 in the game that decided who got 2nd, got a red card to one of my defenders in the 11th minute and lost 7-5).
League Experience
Two seasons in League III where I finished 2nd and then 1st to promote to League II. In league II I got steadily better, first getting 4th,3rd,2nd, and then 1st the last two seasons, despite having one of the weaker to average teams until this season. This season's qualifier almost saw me move up to the top league despite having 12 lower average marks. link to that match

I don' really have a set formation that I like, it just depends on what players I have available, which is what you would want in a U21 coach. In my qualifier match I tried a 523 for the first time and it went very well, but usually I play 541 or 442 with a winger, but like I said that is just due to the players I normally have available.
If you have any questions, fire away.

What are your main aims if you are to get the U21 job?
Obviously the main aim is to qualify for the World Cup, other than that, I like to play U20 matches for all of the friendlies to help develop the upcoming 19 and 20yos for the next season.
What do you have that no-one else can bring to the U21?
This year we had the best players in years.. I hope you know next year the players won't be that good. You still have some world stars like Emery and Shane but it will be much harder to build a good team ;)
I have lots of experience in coaching NT teams, and I am used to playing against stronger teams. My tactics are generally about laying back and preventing any chances and then getting breaks on offense, and I allow very few goals. I don't know if you can look back at previous seasons but if you can you would see that even from the get go in the higher leagues, my goals against has always been very low. Halfway through the WCQ this season I had the lowest goals against (and Romania, ranked #1 was in my group) and was in second place. The season I qualified for the U21 World Cup I only allowed goals in 3 games out of 10, and this season in my league I didn't allow a goal in the last 9 games.
I'm sorry, but who the hell are you to tell me what i can and can't do.
RULES from rtg (Moderator)
NO WHERE, does it say that i cannot post who my vote peference is. However, what is this, you just broke a rule by posting on deathbymail's thread;
-As usual, candidates are not allowed to write in other candidates thread;
Also, please do not enforce rules that seem to come from your brain. Even our own moderator has said his vote preference in the past (HERE) Oh look, more Welsh users saying their preferences (HERE, HERE, HERE!)
So some advice for you;
1) Learn some manners (e.g. In the mail from you "i was waiting your vote for deathbymail ^^" - Childish as f*ck)
2) Maybe learn the real rules (e.g. Don't make up your own rules)
and a personal one from me
3) Stop pestering me! I don't give a damn about you and your little "Crew/staff", messaging users of Wales straight after Sunday's game, asking if they would like to join your little group. I know rhysyboy and lloydyevans in real life, and guess what, how not surprising that they receive the exact same message.
If you wish to reply to the above, do so in the correct thread (Elections General Discussions), and not here.
==============
And FYI, the reason i voted for deathbymail is;
1) I have previously "worked" with him arranging a friendly tournament so i have got to know him slightly
2) He doesn't pester me in e-mails as soon as the elections start

I'll be honest, I think you're able to say who you're voting for, but you're not meant to post on another candidate's thread (if you're running for the same job) :P

I was not aware that was a rule, I've broken it before haha, I will hope it only applies to Cymru :P
Thank you for your vote Morsey :)
Fabbrogas, since it appears I can't post in your thread, good luck.

Pretty interesting update... the ability to change the dimensions of the fields could have a huge impact on games
definitely, will make tactic choice interesting. Wise move i must say.
Just saw this:
On the pitch, in an area of weak condition, the ball may bounce in an unpredictable direction due to the unevenness of the grass, and also may jump in a direction a player didn't want when dribbling.
I foresee alot of rage after strikers lose the ball on a breakaway :P

1. Nederland U21
2. Srbija U21
3. Venezuela U21
4. Cymru U21
5. Sénégal U21
6. Lëtzebuerg U21
Pretty rough draw...Srbija is the highest ranked team from pot 2 and Venezuela is solid. We can still qualify but I would've preferred an easier group :/
