his striker just absolutely punished me any time my defenders made a mistake or were slow getting into position.

One player can make a huge difference in this game. Especially if you have a striker that can dribble past the opponents centre back or is just way quicker.

We’ll see - I’ve brought in a new defender tonight which bolsters the team but ultimately we live or die by my formation. It’s aggressive but probably slightly too advanced still for the players I actually have at the moment!

2-1 loss - was a great game though, not a lot in it! That Kaplon bossed it in the middle, broke everything up against us. Plenty to build on for next time and nice to be playing some humans!

Quite a game! I thought we started the first half on top, but found your keeper in great form. Could have scored a couple but had to settle for 1. Then it suddenly flipped and we were on the back foot. I thought we defended well, with Kaplon and Lalli shielding the defence well, but the goal came on the stroke of half time to make it 1-1.

Second half was evenly fought, but I thought we were slightly on top. Seemed like a GK error that led to the winner, but I have been on the wrong side of plenty of those so will take it!

Overall happy as I had injuries, suspensions and didn't want to risk too many players, it's a good result. A few of my attacking players clearly need to be replaced though, but that can be thought about after the cup final.

Yeah I was delighted with Bosselin in the first half, he was a bit of a colander against Blue so a much more respectable showing until he dropped that cross! We had a few chances but no complaints about the result - we’re pretty well set in defence but I need a few workhorses in the midfield next to go to the next level. Good game, looking forward to the rematch!

To be fair, quite a big difference between blue and my lot!

Hopefully we’ll have plenty more matches in future.

A 0-3 loss against Cym last night, a second dropped cross from my keeper in 2 games! He's brilliant in open play but aerially not great - any chance tech will improve that these days?

tech has 0 effect on gks as far as im aware, purely GK + form. pace+gk+pass, maybe pm can be useful but not needed.

So close, yet so far.

I think we put up a good fight, but little Britain were clearly the best team. Defensively we did well, but we had nowhere near the quality needed going forward.

The goal we conceded was really quite bizzare with Macmichael, who has played well above expectations in the cup, needlessly playing the ball straight to a striker in front of goal. Other than that I can have no complaints.

Yes, a couple of good chances came and went, but we survived those... probably would have preferred it if one of those chances went in rather than the gift that was eventually scored!

Yep, the longer it went the more I started to think we could hold on. Was a shame that it was a mistake that led to the goal, but when so much of the game was played in my half then a goal starts to become inevitable.

Despite the good defensive display, it again highlights how far i have to go to reach that level. My attacking players just didn't win any battles!

you don't have far at all, i think copying that tactic + minor tweaks to exploit what other teams do you will get a draw / win - you managed not only to keep a loss to 1-0 vs a team that is +22 avg rating but also only 12 shots, sometimes you lose 1-0, 2-0 but your opponent has 20+ shots, so either your gk is in good form or their striker is bad form, but 12 shots against a team with some of the best attacking players, pretty good

generally 10 rating difference, you have a really good chance, 20 difference is usually too much,. not impossible though.

I was happy with the defence, but I need much better attackers.... just can't afford them yet!

well for a long time all i did was try to play defensively vs britain, low lines, 6 defensive line etc etc. changed to 433 which is more "modern" and i beat them - for me britains new formation looks weak on the wings for example - yes payne + koryunyan are the best in their respective positions, but im assuming on the attack they go forward, meaning they have 3 defenders left at the back - so yes 1 good attacker + winger could exploit it, even though last time i checkec churdyard was very good and can cover the space if your winger doesn't have good pace.
