Subject: Cymru - Season 73

well for a long time all i did was try to play defensively vs britain, low lines, 6 defensive line etc etc. changed to 433 which is more "modern" and i beat them - for me britains new formation looks weak on the wings for example - yes payne + koryunyan are the best in their respective positions, but im assuming on the attack they go forward, meaning they have 3 defenders left at the back - so yes 1 good attacker + winger could exploit it, even though last time i checkec churdyard was very good and can cover the space if your winger doesn't have good pace.

I suppose the tactic has it's pros and cons. If you have more possession it probably works well, so ideal for little Britain. Plus, their players are just so fast and they do everything fast. So, against most teams in Wales they can get back into defence quickly.

I think I'm going to concentrate on getting my finances a bit better thus season. I've gotten rid of some high earning players and will see how the remaining squad goes from here. I will probably struggle against sporting, but I should finish top half, which is all the fans are asking for. There isn't really much money in winning in this game anyway!

A hard fought 4-0 loss against Little Britain tonight, happy with that performance considering the gulf between us. We had one huge chance off a defensive mixup, Di Sabato had it and botched it. Exactly the right chance for the right player and we couldn’t take it - no margin for error when you get your moment.

5-1 win that flattered us, it was a far more even game than that.

Very happy with the result though.

Picked up yet another injury though, so some decisions to make for Wednesday about whether to risk trainees who already have all their training minutes or put in some weaker options and risk losing the game....

Well at least we got a goal! Tactically totally outdone and gave Little Britain’s midfield the run of the game - happy to keep it under 10 given it was 6-0 in 35 minutes.

At least that’s those 2 games out of the way!

Bit of a strange game for me. Winning 7-0 you would expect everything to be quite one sided, but for a lot of the game Sporting were the much better team, they just kept missing chances!

I rotated a lot due to injuries, suspensions and not wanting to risk trainee's. This had a big impact on performance.

I think I also set tactics a bit poorly here, going quite defensively and putting a few players in positions they were not suited to.... ah well, i really shouldn't be complaining here! But I think I have some lessons to learn from this performance.

I dont see a thread for the U-21's so...

Strange game tonight - 4-0 defeat to Cym Wanderers in a game we had a surprising amount of possession in. An absolute nightmare start though, 3-0 down inside 5 minutes totally killed it immediately but after that we fronted up well.

Another bot game, but a bot that has some decent players. Created loads of chances but some terrible finishing!

Got through it without any more injuries, my list of injured players is getting pretty long at this point (though 2 are down to slight injury at this point)!

We don’t create many but to hit the bar at 0-0 and then miss an open goal is very frustrating! 1 more game to get through and then hopefully wins all the way out to the end of the season. Definitely some new personnel needed for next season to upgrade on what I have!

I thought it was a decent game, but would say we deserved the win overall. You could have scored a couple and we could have had a few more on another day. The counter attack worked well for us.

With the players that were out I went with a defence first kind of approach and it worked pretty well, but you have good forwards, so they were able to sneak past two of my aging defenders once or twice. Given their ratings/form they actually did well (MacMichael getting a whopping 2 star rating!).

A few bot games next, so just aiming to wrap trainees in cotton wool and keep them improving.

My average rating was actually higher looking at it (although pumped up by my keeper and striker), think my tactic is a little too open at the moment at the back and too congested in the middle to create easily. Next season my fixtures will be more balanced at least so will be easier to manage the squad too, compared to 7 wins then 8 defeats in a row coming. Just need to get past the game against Blue now and my fans will cheer up a little!

Yeah, I don't think there is much between our teams. I don't worry too much about the ratings, more if I have players doing what I want in the tactic, but it does give some information.

I think in this game it was perhaps the form of my central mids that helped. They did a good job of stopping a lot of your attacks.

In terms of your tactic, I think it all depends. The fact you have 3 at the back was part of why I was happy to go 1 up top, and I felt that a draw would suit me better. But, the extra man in midfield could have given you a good platform if my mids didn't manage to break those attacks up.

The whole game could have been different, that early shot that hit the bar and a missed open goal could have made it a close scoreline.... it just didn't go your way on the day.... like I say, I do think my central mids were the difference on the day. Just good fortune that they were both in form.

Just a 2-0 defeat to Blue in a game we held out for an hour in - have to say I’m very pleased with that. Some better personnel and we’d have turned some of that possession into a few more chances so plenty to take forward to next season. Finally a game against a bot this week to give my fans something to cheer about - a month of straight defeats does nothing for your fan mood!
