Subject: Cymru - Season 74
I know this is a bit off topic, but whoever decided that recruiting coaches through this "lottery" system was a good idea is the stupidest person alive.
What on earth were they thinking? "How can I make a non interesting aspect of this game, like selecting a coach, not only infuriating but can it also completely drain the already tight funds of teams?"
Complete idiocy. Honestly, this kind of thing is why the game struggles to hook people in. I imagine loads of people like the tactics and match engine, but every other aspect of this game is such a slog....

All I wanted to get was a coach that could train 3 things, but 175k later and I don't have that. I takes ages to get that money and instead of new players or even improving the stadium I get nothing. This coaching system is really annoying me now. So much for long term planning, I have trainees now who are half trained in one position and now have to switch or i just cast them aside and get no money for them. And why? No reason at all.

I just use the coach market - it’s a huge frustration and it takes a lot of waiting for a coach to slip through the net of teams with bigger budgets but it can be done. Top coaches on there are more expensive than players though and you can see why.
i mean i enjoyed the RNG of it, i guess i enjoy the slight thrill of a gamble.
are you selecting all of the skills at magical level?
best time to do it is at the end of a season, either after your bonus or after selling some players or even after playing human players since you'll get almost full attendance vs me or britain for example.
but you also signed 3 players with wages totalling 27k which is half of what you made last season for a home game vs me.
For me, i had 1-2 players i started with worth some money, as well as being able to buy cheaper players and train their pace, then turn them for some profit, nothing amazing but 10k, sell for 500k kind of thing, then i would say ok, stadium +5k and gamble for trainers for 100k, maybe get annoyed and do 150k but i did this for 2-3 seasons and ended up with what i have now..
the only unrealistic part of it now would be the player flipping since any half decent 17, 18 yo with decent side stats will go for a lot more than 10k (usually), but low pace players can still be picked up cheaply.

I'm not saying to buy these players, but a quick look at the TL market first page this is the sort of thing i would look for:
possible striker
possible striker 2
mid or wing
wing or strik
will they become superstars? probably not, but if they pop 4 times a season in pace, without even talking about side pops, they will be worth something at 20yo, but they should side pop, again no big money but it's quick turnover, or even half decent players for the bench if they develop well enough.

I rarely seem to find a coach i want. If I do then suddenly a load of people will bid on him as soon as I do and drive his price up.
I'm all for some randomness in some areas but when they've made training the only way to make money and made it so that if you don't have a trainer with 16 in that skill it's a waste of time then I'm not happy with randomness in that area.
I was looking for 3 skills. Each recruitment cost around 8500 (I can't be bothered to check specifics) so if I spend around 175k, that means I tried about 20 times! On what planet is that fun? In what way does that promote strategic planning for trainees?
I already had to stop training attackers as a coach retired and I couldn't replace him. I tried to repurpose them as defenders, hoping the technique will pay off in the long run - but it means having to squeeze terrible defenders into my team.
Now I have the same thing again. Do I give up on the mids I've been training because I can't train their tech like I planned?
If I could reliably sell the it would be one thing, but I can almost guarantee that if I sell with low tech they will go for peanuts and I've wasted like 5 seasons on some of them.

But that was a clear choice i made. Good or bad, I made the choice and I have those players to play matches.
The rules tell me that I can train players in multiple positions if I get a coach, but I spent more money trying to recruit that coach than I have on any player.

To be honest i' e not got any issues with getting trainees and I'm happy with the ones I have. It's the fact that I now either have to get rid of them or develop them in ways that I don't want to that is annoying to me.

trust me, next time you try to recruit a coach, just put all magical, its 20k but you will more likely find someone with 16 in 3+ skills before you spend 100k
as for the training part, idk which players you're talking about and how they look, nothing wrong with training pace until 20/21, tech is middle ground for how quick it pops:
(faster)
GK
pass and pm
def
tech
str
pace
(slower)
this is the general guide for how fast/slow things train in general, obviously better talent can pop quicker, i wouldn't be too disheartened by it, train pace and every 2-3 weeks try to get a trainer the way i said, 1 or 2 tries, see what happens.

An absolute stormer of a first game for me, 0-2 down in 10 minutes but my new striker took the game by the scruff and pulled us back into it. Somehow left an empty instruction in the orders that then subbed him off for Huw Lambert the U21s striker, who came on to set one up and then score too.
Delighted with that, but had question marks over my keeper and think that he might be for the chop. Somehow got him in for £2, he’s still very trainable so might never get more for him than I could now.

Expected loss for me. Britain just roll us over every time. I only watched the first half and though Britain were the better team I thought we hung on OK and 0-0 wasbreasonable enough. Perhaps stamina is an issue for us, as that is a few games where we crumbled form around 60 mins onwards.
Crazy game between phoenix and sporting, must have been a rollercoaster ride to watch!
Annoying to see Cym get a result again.

Cym will surely fall away at some point with the age of their squad, but especially after the end of last season it's not ideal to see them take points off one of us immediately.
Hoping for some slightly more routine wins in future but at least the fans got their money's worth!

Delighted with a 0-9 win over Red Dragons after faltering against them last time out - only scraped a 1-0 win against them last season in one of those games. Keeps us top of the league for another game at least!
No messing about for Little Britain tonight so hard to see Cym taking the league title after that at least!

Another loss.... we were OK i guess (though again not as good as opposition), but opening goal was yet another horror show... great strike for the second so can't complain...
Struggling a bit with the game right now. Another game with the tactics not doing what I expected, I clearly can't afford a team to compete with top 2, the stupidity of the training (well getting a coach at least) which has really wasted a lot of effort on some players, the youth team not giving anything etc etc, I am thinking of selling the players and just leaving the team dormant for a season and coming back and starting again. Getting relegated here isn't the end of the world as the route back is not too long.... I just think my frustration with the game is only going to grow otherwise and I'll just quit outright....
