Subject: Cymru - Season 74
Another loss.... we were OK i guess (though again not as good as opposition), but opening goal was yet another horror show... great strike for the second so can't complain...
Struggling a bit with the game right now. Another game with the tactics not doing what I expected, I clearly can't afford a team to compete with top 2, the stupidity of the training (well getting a coach at least) which has really wasted a lot of effort on some players, the youth team not giving anything etc etc, I am thinking of selling the players and just leaving the team dormant for a season and coming back and starting again. Getting relegated here isn't the end of the world as the route back is not too long.... I just think my frustration with the game is only going to grow otherwise and I'll just quit outright....

It's a difficult one - when I was last on Sokker I played for 5 years but at a time where Wales had 20-25 users, it was quite set in stone and I was stuck in Division 1 for a very long time because I was in a division with a few human users in an 8 team league where we all took points off each other so nobody could autopromote compared to some of the other leagues who only had 1-2 users and so their winning teams got more points. With the extra money in the game now and the structure it's much quicker than it used to be to build (what I've managed to do in 5 months this year is probably the equivalent to my first year and a half or so back in 2009 but there's definitely no easy way to catch up to the top teams other than patience and a bit of luck.
The coaching situation is very frustrating all round for burning through money but it's the same for everyone at least I guess. How much do you reckon you'd get for selling your team off? Once the market settles a few weeks into the season there'll be plenty of cheap trainees available way under value like last season so I guess there's a fair bit of scope to buy a load of them and take a punt on developing them and selling them on in the future for bigger money.
I hope you don't sell your team off for the sake of the competition in the league, but even with a team of decent trainees you should be able to get 6th in the Prem and the difference in prize money down to Division 1 means that there's not much point in relegating down. Good trainees will be going cheap very soon though so that's definitely a different angle on the game if you do take that approach! I'm still chancing my arm on the coach market trying to upgrade my first team coach to get someone with 4x unearthly so I can look at a few bits to train at once as opposed to 2 main stats, but it's definitely a waiting game.

On the plus side, we've got a new user awaiting joining in Wales so that's good to see.
yeah can't wait for them to come in and buy all 30 yos and another cym red dragons situation
mate my honest opinion, just sell the players you're talking about, if you're that frustrated with not being able to train them, and if they can fetch any half decent amount then better to let them go and bring in new young blood that you can train right now. i've been here 4 years and a "bot" team won the league before me, imagine how i feel.
idk why ppl ignore me when i say just to take it easy and not worry about being competitive - it's not that i don't want the competition, it's i want you to understand the game, make your money, learn from mistakes that i made and of course set you up for better independant futures.
once you understand the importance of talent, you won't even need tools to see when/if a player has talent, every thing is trial and error.
your tactic is fine btw, maybe another day i lose/concede goals because of whatever my defenders were doing, maybe my line was too far back giving too much space but you have most possession, in my territory more and you had half of my shots, which isn't what i call a tactical failure.

despite not having that many options at the back, i will try a classic 532 formation and see how it goes.

In my opinion you should sell your best players and start from scratch. Easiest way is to buy 10 defenders and train them until the age of 21. Two skills to train is easier. When you get there you sell 5 and keep 5 . Like blue said making sure the players have a good talent is vital otherwise your are wasting time. The academy is really important. With a good coach and making sure you are keeping the right players is impossible not make any profit. There s no need to go down a division. You play 5 defenders in a game and the other 5 in the other game of the week. For mid att an gk you can buy old cheap players that will easily keep you in the division.
i've stayed top 3 with just U20s, sure you don't demolish bot teams but you will have to try hard to get relegated. if you wanna take a break from the game, just logging in 1/2 times a week, maybe that will help, until you get some good talent / trade some good talent, just a chill game, no pressure on any of us to beat the world. don't forget you'll always be playing catch up, even if you suddenly sell a player for 50m tomorrow, you're still 10, 20 years behind top teams.

You're correct, always play the long game. Train, sell, buy, train sell and repeat. Improve the ground, improve the trainees and build slowly.
11-1 over Swansea, a freak goal to go 1-0 down but we came back strong and was able to safely sub off the strikers for Wednesday. Definitely better set for this season than last year, looking forward to testing the team against the top 4.
Delighted to see Cym Wanderers on the end of a defeat!!

Hopefully you can find a minimum amount of enthusiasm to keep playing the game. Talking about it should help. Stevie in Scotland has been on the verge of quitting so many times. Soon after he started in 2005?
Hmmm is sokker more addictive than smoking? Never smoked so wouldn't know.
Takes minimum 5 or 6 seasons to create a good team in this game. Which should be a blend of your own trainees plus some bought players. Yeah of course some will buy 11 players and try and compete straight away. But that's not sustainable.
Think I'm into my 9th season back. My team is in reasonable shape. I'm trying to take it to a very good level now. That'll take a bit longer.
Personally I wasted my first 1.5 seasons. But I did invest in the stadium. Wasn't until season 3 mid way through that I could say I had a decent set of trainees. The coaches were ok but not top. Improved them when I could. The thing about coaches. You see managers spend lots in some cases millions on getting a coach with optimum stats or wage. Even now I have a magical who's on a higher wage than optimal but didn't cost much to get. So you need to weigh up a little bit of upfront cost v wages. But at the end of the day. It's a football sim. Not a financial one.
Finances. Now that's a topic I'd like to start sometime. But have avoided so far :)
All I'll say. I spent double getting one of my own youths back. Who promptly got injured and since then his form nose dived and stays rock bottom.

Thanks for the advice all. I've started listing players and I'll just let this season go by tbh.
I'll see what kind of money I get. My concern is that I never seem to get much money for players, so if these guys go for peanuts that will be a bunch of wasted time... if that happens then I think that will be it.

0-2 loss to Blue, have to say I’m happy with that even if it wasn’t his full strength side. Defence held out pretty well, we just got smothered in attack and the centre of midfield never had a look in. Basically sold out the stadium though so decent money too - can’t say I can complain all round. Hoping to have a proper crack at Cym on the weekend.
A 1-0 loss to Cym, they missed a penalty but we had some really clear chances to score before their goal. Was never out of it but frustrating not to pick up a point. As an aside, that is the worst pitch I’ve played on by a million miles!
