Subject: »[info] Dev Diary #76: Nothing is Certain Except Taxes

It's not about lineair or not, but about transparancy. There's a lot of people who don't even know how things are going to evolve and who doesn't follow the forum on a regular basis. Thing is...the overview page is a great platform to give the newest news / changes available to everyone. This can be done with a banner with a link to the exact forum, or with a thumbail...But there should be news / future plans, given to all users through a clear channel, and the message should be clear and simple as well.
Having tons of info will not encourage to read. So even if it's available, but you have to browse for hours is not a good solution to bring news.

Less is more.

My opinion on what an overview page needs...

1) A link to you last / or live match ( OK )
2) A link to your ongoing transfers ( NOT OK )
3) A planner for the things which needs your attention ( OK - very well brought! )
4) A latest news banner for official news ( Partially ok...the pressroom should be more simple and only for official announcements )
5) A simple view of your league ( OK )

And that should be all...
A link to your training...office...team...finance...NT (if available for you)...Forum, IS available on the left column...

Sokker is already too linear regarding training , so i don't think it is a bad idea to have some unlinearity.

Devs works upon the old game system, it's impossible to remove the inherent linearity and limits.
The next training system will facing linearity and limits despite the fact it will be more 'flexible'.

Same as leagues. A league system by definition is un-flexible.
It's impossible to maintain a league with equal rating/level challenge during a season of 3 real months (for various reasons that users-teams activity and rating can drastically change during that time).

Devs got two choices since the "technology obsolescence deadline 2020". Fixing Flash(c) replacement then :
1. working on Sokker2 without sokker updates or 2. progressively update sokker 1 to sokker 1.1, 1.2 ..

They choose the second solution. Gradually update the game on a foundation that has already been criticized for years by users. imo a wrong choice (but both options are hard to achieves)

Maybe it is a good thing that they don't put exact Dates and other things exactly how and when it is going to happen.

Sure ! we can bet on many updates since its could be stable and less "blurry". Don't expect too much, for many seasons. My two pences.

I wonder if they could use an agile methodology to end this work and maybe with a public backlog for both the sprints and the final product people would be less anxious about the changes.

+1

I think some aspect needs to be public as well. Just to be more transparent.

What is made public should be the devs discretion but the Dev diary communication has been too sporadic.

Dev diaries become useless when there are no things to announce: the new league and training system will take some time to develope and test. It's not like the new design of the individual pages that they could show us every week

PLEASE SORT OUT THE INJURIES

it's getting ridiculous, not just for me but for so many

It's getting to the point that you are acting negatively here now

Please don't ruin this game

You had 1 player injured today for 15 days. He's the only one in your squad right now unable to play.

Injuries are always a nuisance for sure, but I wouldn't exactly call your situation ridiculous or ruining the game.

I've already had another mate , and a few last season

And I know MANY others suffering too

It's the worst it's ever been , and I've been here since 2005

I think...as long as you don't have more then 2 players injured at the same time, you're fine. It's normal.

When is it not good...

- if you have 2 GK injured
- if you have lots of trainees injured
- if you have 2 injuries and a 3th one occurs
- if you have a player injured at a match and his replacement injures himself in the same match
- if you have the same player injured more then once in 1 season

Well, I give up and quit. The devs have turned this into total chaos, there's no end in sight, and we don't even get informations anymore. Sokker has become unplayable like this. Too bad, it could be a great game with competent people in charge. Goodbye and good luck everyone!

Maybe big news coming and devs working too hard. We must wait. but devs pls give us a Community Manager.
2021-12-13 17:37:54
The game is quite the same at this point, I don't see such a great change which suddenly made it unplayable.

I do see a lot of people making plans for something uncertain (buying young talents, or accumulating cash).
2021-12-13 17:49:35
main problem is that we don't get any info about progress and plans....or any info how the work is going...
2021-12-13 17:59:52
And what please is the problem with that? I´m here for almost 16 years now, nothing really big has ever changed in that time, it always has been more or less the same game! So what makes the difference if it changes now, today, tomorrow or even next year? Or if someone tells us about that more exactly? It depends everyone of us, noone has an advantage or disadvantage due to our cluelessness. This is a long term manager...so why some people just can´t wait what will happen?^^

It's a psychologic thing.
Like advertising...or politics...
If you promise things and stay quite after, people are going to revolt!
If you promise nothing and work in the background, without the majority knowing...everything is ok.
