First of all I agree that ME must be finally changed again after 8 real years of pause.
For the start, is far from beeing perfect and on the other hand almost everybody learned it's tricks so there is nothing more to discover, it's just monotone.

For midfielders: less "passing", more "dribbling/shooting"

This must be available only approaching opponent's last 16m. It is just unreal for the rest of the pitch, we aren't in the 80' anymore. I agree that midfielders must be more affective in offensive and I disagree to turn them all into Ronaldinho and Messi, technique is striker's main skill. Also, I think that strikers should act more like midfielders, pass more and build the game more. It's just unreal for the strikers only to try score from almost all impossible angles. This is a big mistake of the actual match engine.

It mainly depends on the order you give your players (indeed for strikers), BUT it's also affected by the position to the ball in which you place the players in the tactics editor. If you place a player in front of a ball he's tended to dribble more. If he's behind the ball, he's tended to take "action", like passing or shooting.
Fact is, players with ATT order seldom tends to pass... in which the opposite is also true! MID order seldom shoots, even if they are right in front of the goal!

For me the tactics editor is the best of all online games, I would only add 2 things to it,

1) individual orders to each player, example: run and then center, shoot on goal instantly, always dribble, throw centers through the air or on the ground, go out playing for the defenders, or throw the ball away, defend aggressively or softer, marks very close, etc.

2) I would add the possibility of moving the goalkeeper, but only for fans of tactics, that is, that by default it can not be moved as it happens now, but that there is an option to check so one can move it.

* Actually we have the pitch squared in a 5x7 space: for each square we set player positions.
You could square the pitch in a 7x7 space, adding external squares (7 on right column, 7 on left column).
External squares will be used for trow-in and corner-kicks placement.

* Passing quality: increase difficult for long passing, decrease for short passing
* Make easy penalties
* Different choices shoot/passing for free kicks (actually we have almost shoots)

It's a good idea, but I don't know if it wouldn't be too complicated to implement all those functions.

I would be happy if we could simply add your team's style of play to match orders. With three very simple functions:

1-control (tiki taka jjjj)
2-direct game (with more long and fast passes to your forwards)
3- neutral (mix of the two previous styles)

Those three styles should be able to be used with the 2 tactics (if 3 or 4 are decided it would be ideal)

Example:

main tactic, style 1 to start the game,

60 min, I'm losing, switch to additional tactics with style 2 ...

Logically, it could also be with the main tactic throughout the game, but change only the style according to whether I am winning or losing, etc.

In summary:

1- be able to use at least 3 tactics per match
2-be able to use 3 styles of play per match

The game must be the same for old players and new ones so ok to improve tactics but not with individual orders

Another point : i would like a possibility to give a order "if you take a goal" or the opposite "if you score a goal" to change tactic immediately and not with precise timing

The ME now: 60-80% the average team mark,10-20% individual player skills, 10-20% tactic
+a lot of random.

50% individual player skills , 50 % tactic would be better.

Actually the game engine and tactics is the core and best feature of sokker (compare to all other soccer manager web games ! ).

That doesn't mean it shouldn't be improve (on the contrary !) but improving with care and slowly.

For me, an unbeatable simple and powerful tactic editor for years : player manager . Sokker tactic editor is in the same spirit of this classic game, and should be inspired by this great editor. My two pences.



Also, the match engine should be simplified in 2D and lightweight : easier to add news things and increase the engine without working on animation and graphics (that require design skills and lot lot of more works! )

In my opinion, everybody can play with shorter passing tactic or long passing tactic in this match engine. It depend on how you move your players on tactic creator, and depends from the enemy tactic.

My biggest problem in this match engine, really hard to give through passes in the middle from 2012. Need for this really good average rating and random.
