Subject: [idea] Helping small countries to grow

2020-04-13 20:20:48
Something else we can do to help smaller countries grow.

1) New managers should automatically join the highest possible league instead of playing against bots for 2 seasons. In India there are 4 bots in the top league.
2) An active team shouldn't be allowed to be relegated to a bot.
3) More awareness and advertising would be required. In a country of 1.3 billion people like India there are about 5 active users. Not that football isn't big in India.

I see the suggestion of having a second team in another country isn't getting much love.
I can only say that I've played other manager games that allowed you to pick any country you want for your first team and they were working out just fine. I understand the concerns about national forums having more foreigners than actual citizens of that particular country but I think that could get handled by using two forums for instance.

As for the youth player idea, that's always been what I was hoping for. Just add a small probability that your youth pull ends up being foreign and you're all set. This isn't just gonna help small countries, it would make youth pulls more fun to me cause the results would be a bit more unexpected.

This isn't just gonna help small countries
Well, I did some preliminary calculations and I see much more potential in this than I wrote in the first place. With 10% chance to get exotic junior (not exactly 'foreign' because I would want this to exist to help small countries, so the juniors in that case would be from not much populated sokker countries, hence 'exotic') the potential of weakest countries would grow largely and it would became more or less like current potential of Crna Gora which I think is pretty decent.

I wasn't contradicting you. My point was that it would help reach your goal and as an added bonus it would also things make more exciting for all of us.
Not sure about only being able to get players from small countries though, that kind of feels forced and could change every few years. If you do a 10% foreign rule then the smallest countries will still be the biggest winners because they will have the biggest relative gains in their player pool.
But I'll trust someone who has access to the code to know what the best solution is in the end.

second team for PLUS users or international junior school ( one place for junior with other nationality in our junior school - once a week we choose region/flague for that place) , then in next 3-4 seasons little countries ( in sokker ) have a chance tu survive ( theirs U21 and senior team )

+1

i would say there should be a possability to chose, for example, 33.33% of your juniors to come from some other country every week...or something like that....

Spot on what Charles Hill posted on the first page regarding small countries

I think a random % to get an international junior is a great idea, and one that was presented 8 or so years ago to help try to grow small nations, without penalising already big nations (as the difference will still be there, just not as great).

As an example (in a 2 nation sokker game)

Even small countries having this applied to them. Say a country with 10 users, has a 10% chance of pulling another nations player (lets assume it is one player per week for simplicity). This means that nation only pulled 150 youths from their nation instead of 160 that they would have already had. (so -10)

But then another country has 100 user with the same odds as above.
They now still get 1500 youth from their country, and 10 pulled by the other country, so a total of 1510 (instead of the original 1600), but the small nation gets 250, instead of 160.

The small nation is now better off, but the big nation maintains its advantage.

It is a win-win situation.

And side benefit, it allows the user in the big nation to potentially have an NT player in their team, without having to wait for one to come on the TL from the smaller country. Another benefit

In sokker I’m a racist. Ok, not a racist but I just don’t let foreigners in my team. :D So I want it to be optional if implemented! I’m getting utterly crappy juniors in my school anyway so I don’t want to lower the change of getting a decent domestic youngster from my own academy.

Even though I might word it slightly differently I am in 100% agreement with you ;-)

It was a bad joke as I’m superdivine in making those. Perhaps patriot would be a better word.. :)

e: That word makes me think of Mel Gibson.. I’m more of a Bruce Willis type, Bruce in the 90’s to be exact.

I thought, no one will be against that sometimes exotic junior will be added to YS, but I understand You, I also do not like foreigners in my team, not as much as You do but still try to avoid having them. So, fair point, this should be optional.
2020-04-20 21:16:29
You can sent them away that same day. There is no rule keeping youth players ;)

Yes, but what if it were that potential superstar you had been waiting for, you would be gutted and the end result could mean people saying "to eff with that" and simply leaving the game ...

but if exotic junior would come to Karsten`s YS, it would "steal" Finnish junior spot
