Subject: [Idea] Introducing days in player age

2020-04-18 13:26:01

I don't know if has been already discussed but it would be a nice improvement to youth school system: actually it's too unbalanced because players entering at the end of season are too penalized and keep them training is almost uneconomic.
By the way days count should be reparameterized on season lenght, but I think it shouldn't be too hard.
What do you think about?

So when exactly would you know how old your player is going to be..would a player's age be 16/17/18y + weeks in youth school?
I like the idea but it would make youth players stronger than before (since most of them would be younger) so their skill set would have to get reduced as a counter measure.
It would also make it a bit more complicated to keep track of your team. You'd have to check every Friday to see if someone got older.
Same with the transfer market...it's much more complex to guess a player's worth if you add days into the equation.

-1 unnecessary complication

Well, it could work. If it is clear when a player gets older.

I do agree all players getting a year older at the same time is strange.

I don't think so: players strenghtness would be always linked to his talent; for sure it could inject more youngsters on market or training grounds in first team because the age would be another factor to count on.
Moreover with new "age system" a young player could have birthday also during the season, so the statement "since most of them would be younger" is not always exact.

About the complication of keeping track/evaluating transfers price, is simply a question of time to adjust the mechanisms, like everyone did when old youth system changed about talent unpredictability.

I've seen this in other games and it doesn't bring anything good

The problem of the youth school could be solved easily: making the youth come a bit better as the season is ending

or having youngest players were season in ending

i like system what is in football manager (it is in real football)....
to youth school incoming juniors in start season players in different age 14-17 age
When they are older, tranfer their to U20(B team) or A team...

but i know, that here is unreal maybe.

If it already exist somewhere, then it is far from unreal ;)

The question is, how can this be implemented in Sokker, without making it too complicated.

The problem with "adding days" to the ages isn't the new players which are created but actually the players you already have.

Can you imagine the fallout if you had just bought an expensive player only to find out that due to adding days to his age that he's already basically 1 year older and thus worth nowhere near what you just paid for them?

However, the easy way around this would be to set all the current players to the same day of the year all to change age when the new season starts. In time (ok, a number of seasons), those players would eventually leave the game only leaving the players with the random day left. That would be the fairest way even if it would look a little "odd" for a few years...

If such an idea will every be implemented, different age during season should be added only to new players, the older players should keep their 'birthday' at the same moment as it was before, somewhere between the old and new season.

And in some cases, new players will also have their 'birthday' between 2 seasons, as new youth players are added to youth team each week.

I can't understand why someone says "too complicated".

It's very easy, every player has a birthday (in sokker time, eg: week 1, season 56) and his age pops at that week every season.
In U21 NT can be used only players that become 21 during that season.
