if i am thinking about pace, hate youth with pace 0,1,2,3....Youth with pace 0,1,2,3 are quickly like baby, pensioner or 150 kg man. Pace is different skills like other. Pace is inborn and pace trainik do not change pace too much.
I would change minimum pace skill for coming youth to (example) 5-8... and max ending to 10-13....
We have too many players with top speed and it is unreal... How much is in world top def, striker, wing with 17/18 pace? Here???? too many and players are total similar.... One from the fastest player in word is Bale...So in sokker had pace 18.... How many players in world is so quicly like Bale??? few!!!!! Here 80% in top league :D
other skills... If i check Slovak NTDB, too many gk 17/17, def 17/17 with sekundar skill and if see striker too much 17/17/17 and diferent is only sekundar.
If NT coach choise players to match, have too much great player to position GK, DEF, ATT and take players to match only with the best form. But in real life have only few top players but here have too many stars and it will be need little change.
If say top striker messi, lewandowsky, ronaldo.... This players are world star and in sokker 3x superdivine... But if see sokker, every country have so great striker lot of.

For example: not every player would be able to get superdivine pace even if he trains it a lot. Only players with superdivine pace-talent could achieve this. Other players would grow so slowly in this skill that they would arrive to brilliant or magical at most. But that wouldn't mean they can't be good in other skills if they focus on them.
This way, instead of looking for good talents in general, one would focus on looking for the special talent every player has, and try to explode this power.
A normal player could have 2 or 3 talented skills, but also there could be players with a good talent in every skill, although they would be very few, like IRL.

Recall that we are inside a game. Also, in reality how many strangers (real talents) play in low streaks? Lot of.

BMI is once introduced, that would effect pace.
Not that BMI makes lot of sense in Sokker, as if half my team has overweight.
If I think about it, BMI should be deleted. Or it should be able to drop when players train and play matches.
Another solution could be ... I think HT use this, long time ago I played HT so not sure ... +1, +2 and +3 extra skill talent. That makes one player faster, better at scoring, defending, etc as players without the extra skill talent.
And delete the bottom 3 or 4 skills, hopeless, tragic and poor make no sense for trained football players. I don't know any player that is tragic, if so he should be playing chess or so.
This way player can be trained max level 15, but with for example +3 on pace, the player is still level 18.
There is a downside, everyone will want to have the +3 pace strikers, as no player on the pitch will catch these players when the opponent doesn't have +3 pace defenders. So not sure if this is such a good idea after all :P
And not being able to train players to the max skills is also no fun, that would mean training results has to drop, so training takes even more time. Which is maybe okay for topteams as they will still get good players, but for beginning teams this means they have no improvements at all when training results are that slow. Or lower skills should be speed up, but last skills dropped down. So beginners won't have the negative consequences, only those who want to train to the last 3 top levels of skills.

can something like this be real? you train a lot of weeks and it's gone within a few weeks.
Is not a young player, but at a good age easily over 30+!
I don't have to train any more if it's taken away so contrary!

now training pace makes sense because you can train 22 players .... with 10 fixed slots, pace is penalized a lot. So I think a perfect compensation is what you propose ... do not start from level 0 (tragic), but level 5-6 as minimum.

I think that pace should be a minimum of say 5 because lets face it , NO player ever starts with 0 pace lol

Maybe it should work like Keeper skill for keepers: higher chance to get it in a high level, but with a bit of random
In my opinion the minimun level a player should have for each skill is around "Average[6]" , less than this is completely weird to watch.Having a lot of players "17" or "17+" in pace is something that would be great if changed by devs, even if player with that level could be differente that another players at same level because of extra trainings and height (acceleration).
change only system leaguer, low week and no more....right now have lot of 17/17/17 players and afeter few season will have lot of 15/15/15 playes and only few better 17/17/17...

I think all skills should have their ceiling! And it should be invisible till you get there...
Let's say, a player has 6 pace to start with. Then his growing potential should be between 5 and 8, so you know, the maximum you can increase it's pace is till 11-14 max.
And this should also be for all other skills, except stamina. But this skill should drop easier than it does now...

With this, you will have a more distinct difference between players, but it won't be obvious when he comes out of the youth. I also think each skill should have their own potential, so 1 skill should be able to rise more then another skill.
And I think, youth players should develop their skills based on this, so the higher their skills are, the better it's potential will be. This way it will be clearer, which kind of player a youth player might be and their skills will be less random. All players should have at least 1 position skill (right column) with the highest potential. But in return, the position skill should have more impact on how a player plays the game.
If he's slower, then he'll most likely be - or a central midfielder, or a tank player. With the decrease of divine pace players, slower, but stronger players can have more meaning. This way the BMI, length and weight can be of more importance...
