Subject: [Idea] Promote players to coaches

Charles Hill to All
Instead of only Coach Recruitment, there could also be another way: promote players to coaches, for an x ammount of money.

To prevent manager from promoting all players to coaches, only 1 per season can be promoted. And also only players from the age of 30+ (just before the skills start to drop).

Maybe NT players should be restricted from becoming coaches, so NT teams can't be destroyed.

This way it is also easier to implement the idea of coaches retiring (after the age of 70+).

Just, pointless...
Feature that you can use once a season...

The fact that you came up with more restrictions than options tells you a lot about the idea.

i think alternative way to make a coach is good for me with some adjustments maybe is a good idea

maybe he can still play even he is a coach

In that case is Coach Recruitment also pointless, don't need to be used anymore after 1 good recruitement.

I rather promote a good players once in a while to become my head coach instead of crappy and overly expensive Coach Recruitment.

If your argument 'it can only be used once' is the only argument why something isn't a good idea, then you can start posting in I don't know how many ideas, 'Just, pointless... Feature that you can use once a season...'

The fact that you came up with more restrictions than options tells you a lot about the idea.

And no, posting cons doesn't tell anything about the idea at all, you just made that up. Posting pros and cons shows that someone though it over before posting an idea.

Ok, so you want the ability to promote players to coaches?
But, how are you going to populate the coach skills of such players?

Fwiw, when I used to play hattrick, you used to be able to do this and some people used this as their way to make money.

(I deleted the last message because it were a duplicate - apologies!)

Your recruitment should be even more expensive, since it guarantees a young coach.

Bit it should be much better than the standard recruitment, since it is just once a season.
Then how do you balance that?
Urgh, I don't want to spend energy solving this mess.

The same skills as the player had when promoted to coach. Player will be changed into coach, that's it.

And not sure how this would work for assistants/youth coaches. But from player to coach is the most simple promotion.

EDIT: never knew this is an HT option. But because coaches can't be sold, there is no way to make more money out of promotions to coaches

I have to say I think that requires a bit of re-think then.
The older somebody gets the more skills they lose. Yet, in RL, the more likely they would actually be to become a coach.
Also, if I had a 4 or 5x unearthly/divine player there is no way I would make him a coach given what he's worth on the transfer market.

There's always a way :-)
I don't think you could sell coaches in hattrick either.
But, if you knew a certain type of player made a decent future coach then his transfer value as a player would be much higher as other people knew that too.

At the age of 30 most players still have all skills in tact. But you second point could indeed be a problem for this idea.

Ah, that is what you mean. Good point.

We need some organization here :P

Didn't see that one.

Good to see the +1's in that topic.

But as tcd_uk pointed out, a lot should be taken in account

The general coaching skill could depend only on the experience as a player, and only the skill distribution on the player skills. That would solve the issue of promoting players after they had skilldowns.

Also coaching skills could improve until the age of 45 or 50 and decline after 65. Could be a good option to have a former player start out as assistant coach and promote him to head coach when he gets better. It would also be a realistic solution to get rid of old coaches.

Let's continue in the original topic, like Terrion pointed out 3 posts back.
