Subject: [GD] Length of the Season - Announcement

2020-05-05 12:37:01
Except there is currently no good proposed idea to keep matches on their own day of the week. Once they start being on multiple days or on a different day during some weeks of the season and not others, it gets very confusing for everyone
2020-05-05 12:46:53
13 weeks is the best option, a significant decrease and manageable 2-3 matches per week

I was the only one on the forum who in favor of this idea. I think it's too late now.

I made it less confusing. Last three league games and 1 qualifier played in last two weeks.
We could make a thing out of it. Call it the rush or something :)
I think it would be fun, but a lot of users are strongly against it. Still too confusing, I guess.

Thanks for the response.

At the moment there is no other solution on how to reduce the gap between new users and old ones unless you wanted to take from the existing users. The same comes with the gap between already existing players and players that will be created after the news are implemented. I really wonder how do you plan to deal with this problem.

I'm not speaking on behalf of Raul, but just my own musings.

If the idea is the make players not so phenomenal, then there actually doesn't need to be any change in training speed (especially with a 14 week season).

This is because the potential of a player (ie the best they will ever get) will be directly related to the number of seasons they played before the change. Generally, this will be fairly linear with age. Because of this, there will be a gradual decrease in skills between each age, but not so big that it will make a huge divide between any two ages, or where there is a big divide (ie between a 20 and 30 year old), they aren't competing for the same spot anyway (the 20yo needs more years to train, and the 30yo will slowly lose skills).

So with a 16 to 14 week change, this is a 12.5% degree slope, and will take 7 sokker seasons, to lose one seasons worth of training, which at the pointy end of the NT, is really only 2 skill points. And normally players 7 sokker years apart don't play much together anyway.

So although they did mention that if it went to 12 weeks, they would slightly increase training speed, but not enough to make up for 25% loss, at 14 weeks, no change would need to be made

We can make it simple if in the last week we have no cups, just three league matches... or make one cup two week short
2020-05-05 13:07:39
But that isn't "simple". That means anyone who can't play during the week, misses out on the most important matches of the season , and the whole season is wasted because they are unable to do those last couple of matches.

Just setting ahead of time is not enough, when you are in a close league, talking and mind games up to match are important. Watching if your opponent buys someone one day out is important.
And having 3 from one league and you can only get kn during one day, you may not even know if you are in the running for the title/about to be relegated after the 2nd last match, so don't know you should be changing tactic etc.

There is a lot to it not being simple. It's great you can log on multiple times a week or even a day, but we need to find fun ways to make it enjoyable for both us active people, and those who need to be less active due to life. If you make it fun for the lowest common denominator, everyone has fun. If you tailor it to only the most active, or richest, then only to top few % have fun

Yep - thats correct - with 12/13 weeks, slighty faster training could be an option (but ofc not +25%, rather... 10%?) - with 14 weeks - we will rather stay with it as it is now.

Raul*: And 16weeks,we will slow them muhahahahaha

*may not be the actual words of Raul

Against the 12-week season, the fundamental problem is that you cannot keep the idea of a competition always the same day without changing the number of teams by league groups (currently 8), or without changing home / away.

without support the change to 6 teams per league group.

on the other hand, if the 14-week season is approved at the end, and the devs prefer an international cup and not a league, proposal or a group stage of 6 teams (home/away, 10 match for everyone)or that the teams eliminated to win continue to compete (as in the world handball or water polo)

or in any case, if the official matches are the ones that really serve to train, that all the teams are sure to play 2 match per week all season

@Raul Its good that concerns of community are part of the official announcement of course we cannot stay calm as well until we see the final proposals or eventual pool and im really glad that NT teams are finally mentioned. We ve been here for a long and we ve seen a lot you have to understand that devs to rebuild the trust to community will be slow process to push your ideas will need some compromised solutions hope for the best of the game. My hope is back again but need to see next important topics and specific solutions on things commented in the announcements. every little detail matter in this great game.

I want to second this "Its good that concerns of community are part of the official announcement"

The last announcement has caused a lot of panic and uncertainty and a lot of the feelings felt in the past put upon us by other DEVs.

I thank you for creating another announcement that shows you are reading and listening, and I think the appreciation can be seen in the actions of the people commenting on this topic.

I think it shows that you are still wanting to modify the game in such a way that the users feel they had some say in the direction the game goes, given their experience from playing so many years.

Again thank you for the mid-week announcement. We may like a slow game, but weekly announcements are killing us :)

@slavista probably talent or speed of training will change most likey bit faster
i still think adding 1 more level will slow down a lot existing players and will give chance new one to catch up just thought i also would like to see the answer from devs on your question
edit: ahh just saw the @raul replied

I understand the position of Rebel.81, I'm basically agree , but at the same time I like so much a idea of 12 teams per league! It will be fantastic for greater contacts between users and more possibility to access to top levels.
It's true, 4 official matches for week is a lot. But think about this: only league games would be fixed: in the international cup and mainly in the national one the majority of the teams is eliminated in the first rounds!

@Raul i still think we need final poll with solutions adjusted to compromise solution !!!! if i understand the news correctly you will make decisions on existing poll? maybe im wrong can you confirm? and the worst thing from news from last friday was the poll.. options had to be presented for discussion only last week and poll done after that was my main frustration. now people may voted but they may change their mind cause length of season matters hope my point is clear.
2020-05-05 15:01:51
We will probably make new poll about lenght of season, but based on current poll and overall discusion we have enough data to prepare proposition about number of games & competitions kinds.

@Raul thanks!
