Please take a look. Again my best player and again long injury (23days) what is happening in my team?
Last week I had to sell a player in same situation
https://sokker.org/player_stats/PID/35939016(3 matches in three-four months due to several injuries). This is not normal. And two injuries today. I'm tired because it's always in same players and my best.

Engine is killing me lately. I tried so many things, and I see them "working," but mids with 16/17 playmaking pass the ball to the wrong player, or pass the ball to an open striker so poorly that he has to run back to get the ball.
There are so many issues, I CAN NOT BELIEVE that they plan to do nothing about it. I would understand them if they weren't investing money in 3D, but they obviously see matches as important part of the experience.
Now I also got a 33 day injury. Its the least important trainee in my team but it still ruins the game.

Engine hasn't change lately - it remains the same.
Perhaps your oponents have developed lately their understanding on how to block a team with stronger players. Perhaps...

and if the oponent knows how to defend better against a stronger team, then the match engine creates such weird situations...
However, independent of the animation, match engine decides about final result based on players and tactics.
So do not expect to find the reason of your match result through the match animation, especially on how your players react.
Sometimes players react different and it's because of the tactics of the oponent...
This is how I believe the ME works. I hope this could give you some ideas about what to make next.
