It just makes no sense that a player can get a red card in league and then to play the next round of the league. I's pointless to have that one game punishment if you can use a different competition for it.
Now, the absurdity of my current situation.
I want to make a switch, so that my first squad can play in the cup next week. But one of my players got a red card in the cup today, so he has to play in the cup next week in order to get training.
So, I "can't" use my first squad in the cup, because the player who got a red card in the cup "must" play in the next round of the cup...
I put quotes on some words, because I don't mean that literally, since the player can skip the training for the next week.

Or I can do the opposite, and make sure I have my 1st team for my league match.
If they separate them, then you can easily be missing players for the final or semi final (or the other option is not play them in the semi, but lose and also not make the final).
The current system requires good management of players. If they changed it, it would be more about luck than good management

Here you are talking about hard choices that you would have to make with separate card records, and that is good management, hard strategic choices:

To put it in simple terms, if you are using your first squad in the league and one of the players gets a red card, you can use him again in the next round of the league, zero management required.
You can have your preference, current system is more convenient for you, I respect that, but don't lie that it requires better management, it's the opposite.

That is the only option you have with your proposal, therefore not good management, just given that way by the game.
So yes, I stick by my original comment. With the current system, better management decisions need to be made, and more skill on behalf of the manager. You also get to decide the risk you would like. Do I take the risk of my 2 yellow card player playing in the national league match, and then not have for the cup or not? That is a decision to make. Maybe you can find a better position to play them, or give them a rest and work on a different training regime for the week.

Simply current system is unreal. Cards should be separated like happen with cards in national team. The management is the same.
"unreal" is not a reason to make changes to a game.

Cup is maximum of 12 rounds if in Poland. Half of all teams are out in round 1, so not like NT system.

It would also be better management if there were no injuries or cards and it would be a rubbish (and I am being very affected by injuries this season). If you separate cards you can get better management. It depends on how you look at it. I prefer separate cards, more real and better management for me. Sometimes I had a red car in cup and it makes no sense that I couldn't line up them in the league. Anyway now we'll have two league matches and more matches. Maybe cards should be adapted (for example 4 yellow cards equal to one red card in league, and 2-3 yellow cards in cup).

well in game where training is based on played time card and injuries make sense to be reduced.
one of main reason in current number of games per week to have separate cards is training
imagine red card on trainee in beginning of first game .
he consumed training slot on top he cannot have chance for training if you play in cup
with introduced changes there will be a way but still make sense separate cards per competition

You still have to make this risk with a player with 2 yellow cards, because he might be of the roster for the next round of the competition in question.
