Subject: Trading Players - online bidding
- 1
Hi all.
A suggestion for a change in trading system to tackle the problem of needing to be online to bid and a few other things.
###
1. seller would be able to choose the time of the sale to be commenced
2. buyer would set the minimum and maximum buying price (#timestamp)
- bids would not be disclosed until the start of the sale
3. at the time of sale, the highest bid would be the starting one and the regular bidding (the way it is now) would begin
- in the case of two or more equal highest starting bids, the one with better (#timestamp) would win/start the auction
TO complicate things further (not sure if best option):
4. buyer could go well beyond the current finance situation, bid more than the club has.
- at the time of sale, there will be the check to see if the money is there (maybe the team sold some players or regular income ...),
if not, the buyer is out of bidding before the start (and in case his was the highest starting bid, the lower one is the new highest)
-> problem with two simultaniusly going sales and whatnot
OR simply
4. sum of buyer bids (maximums) must not exceed finances
- if/when the finances change, do check on bids and withdraw invalid ones
###
cheers!

why being online to bid is a problem?
if You cannot be online, You will skip the auction and try with next player when You can be online, it's very simple, there is a lot of player to be bought and sooner or later there will be similar to the one You couldnt buy due to not being online
I just dont see the reason to complicate this, especially that it is rather contradictive with the devs plan, because it would cause trading to be easier and chosen more often instead of playing

Maybe I'm playing a bit of a devil's advocate here, most transfers end at European afternoon time.
That's logic because most users are european and they know that it is at the afternoon when most users will be online, therefore they will get more money for their players.
For someone in a different time zone it will be an additional burden, as maybe they are sleeping or at work at those hours, so they will not be able to bid for most of the players.
The same happens when they sell a player, because they cannot put the transfer order in the best time, less users will bid for their player, so they will get less money.
I do not mean that I like the idea posted above though.
I think the best solution would be to get more users in those countries, so there are more transfers in their time zones.
The current system is simple and works pretty well.
If that does not work, then maybe finding a way that a user in New Zealand or Ecuador has the same opportunity to bid for a player than one in Poland or Spain.

I have another thought about the time zone issue...
Lots of teams are eager to buy players from their own country.
You said, most common sell time is afternoon, but actually it's evening...
From 19h till 22h actually.
So what if players who are placed for sale will have a random deadline between 19h till 22h in their own countries local time.
So example: My current time now is 21h13 on June 30th
Cristiano Ronaldo and Aurelio Vidmar are being put on sale right now on this day and this time, from my club at the same time.
Ronaldo is Portuguese and will be placed for sale around 21h on July 2nd, same time zone...
Vidmar is Australian and will be placed for sale around 13h, July 2nd, That is 21h Local time in Australia

I'm from Spain, we normally have dinner between 21-22:00, so evening it's a bit later for us :)
Actually most users already do thet, put their players on sale when it's their evening.
If you let the computer fix the hour, then you will have some people complaining because their transfer is at 19:00, so they will get less money than if it was at 21:00.
And even with that, an australian team would not be able to buy Cristiano Ronaldo.

Time is not the issue in transfers, let’s focus on the big picture here

Well they don't, now either... It's actually the exact same hour that makes it impossible for them to buy, and it also is the biggest market of the game.
All time around Greenwich mean time is +80% of all users of sokker...
America, Asia and Australia have a hard time buying great players when they are sold from Europe.

I think time and to be online are not problems for biding, but i think we need something like a quick sell where you can setting the value of a player and sell him fast without auction system.
For example set a quick sell system with some restrictions where:
16yo to 21yo: could be sell between the 100% and 300% of his value,
22yo to 29yo: could be sell between the 100% and 200% of his value,
30yo in advace: only could be sell at his 100%
Having this player
Xxxxxx Xxxxxx, age 25
Value: $400 000
If I put him in quick sell system I could put him in values between $400 000 and $800 000, for avoiding especulations no more, no minus,
Logically this must be works parallel to actual system with a time limit,
Actually players values are useless, maybe it could be a good form to give some use to this parameter,
