Subject: [Change] Injuries in National Team

2026-01-19 07:52:08
No problem, I saw that you edited your message, which clarifies things.

To get back to the subject, playing on such a field sends a terrible signal to the owners of US U21 players. I never hide the characteristics of my players selected for the NT, but I would do so if I had an US U21 player for fear that the coach would make him play on a field in poor condition.

Yea or make u21 games behave like arcade. I believe there was a vote about it recently. Another issue is even if a coach picks a high quality stadium/pitch, it takes time for the pitch to regenerate and the club is affected in that scenario.

Yea I realized my original message might have not conveyed my thoughts well. Sorry about it.

That also.
Low pitch condition effect matches not only for higher injury chances. It makes the ball bounce more - giving in theory a disadvantage for a better team. So there is also this to consider.

My perfect solution would be indeed - make all NT matches arcade. No additional training, no injuries.
NT would be fun for everyone then. And not a constant point of negative emotions - injuries, showing/not showing skills etc.

May be a little off topic but this is a big problem for a cup at early stages in some countries since bots' stadiums suck. If devs plan to fix issue in u21 games, I would hope cup with bot teams could be fixed too.

Only thing that needs adjusting is making it possible for the NT coach to change pitch size however he wants. Because this is why people change stadiums for NT matches and it is imo good additional tactical weapon.

yes, let's add that to the list of easy to make useful features, that are waiting years to be made in an hour of work xD

There was certainly kinder words to describe your NT U21 coach's lack of respect and fairplay. But hey, that's America—it has to be great again :-)

why do you think it is lack of respect and fairplay? the way i see it, the only problem is injuries - but the chance for getting an injury was the same for both teams.
it happens quite often in real life that home teams get advantage in many ways (stadium design, not letting fans of visiting teams to the stadium). what the ripper mentioned - "It makes the ball bounce more - giving in theory a disadvantage for a better team" - to me thats totally fine.

I am not sure we should discuss politics here.

@ all... Let's redirect the discussion back to the topic.
Politics are indeed not to be discussed on this forum!

Increasing the number of injuries is disrespectful. Not only to the opponent, but also to all player owners.

Playing on a bouncy field is a pathetic strategy, as well as being totally uninteresting to watch.

If that suits you, good for you!
But I don't think the game should allow this in official NT with top players.

Tbh if playing on bouncy field helps a team win, I have no problem about that. Main goal of every coach is winning. Many teams play wall tactic in real life even if the game is boring to watch. Nobody in real life calls that pathetic or not fair play.

I agree - if there was a way for coach to have some player break another player's leg on purpose etc - that's not fair play. Or if a coach used weaker team without playing their star players and set pitch to increase chance of injuring opponent while not risking anything- id consider that not fair play also. But it seems he played strongest team so this is why I thought the risk affects both equally.

What im not sure about is - how to quantify the injury risk delta by using the poor pitch? There was just 1 injury. Based on my experience, I am forced to play many games on poor pitch in a season due to many bot teams in cup but I get injuries both in those games as well as on perfect pitch.

If using poor pitch means 99% of injury then I would be against it but if using poor pitch increases injury risk by 5% and helps the team win, i think it is acceptable. Not sure where the threshold is

No matter if its only +5% or more, its still increasing injuries.
No matter if it could affects both teams equally, it's still disrespectful for all NT owners.
No Matter if bouncy field helps a team win, or not, it's still pathetic.

Yep, I understand you. The end justifies the means. As long as the rules allow it.
However, it was morality that prevailed this time. Not only did you lose, but also gained dishonor. Good deal.

Playing on a pitch in poor condition allows the home team to adapt their tactics—for example, by choosing a setup with fewer runs—to minimize injury risks. This creates an unfair advantage, as the visiting coach remains unaware of the pitch conditions and cannot adjust their strategy accordingly, leading to a disproportionately higher risk of injury for their players.

The same could be told about pitch dimensions. If You play on narrow field, Your winger will not get as many chances as on wide pitch. But yeah, low quality pitch is always a sign if discrespect toward Your opponent

"The same could be told about pitch dimensions. "

Not exactly the same. You don`t need the help of stats to realise the consequences of bad pitch condition. I think everybody had such an experience in the first round of the cup competition.

Pitch dimensions can be an injury factor, but not as high as the pitch condition factor.

There is a very easy solution - doesn't even need anything special. Just make NT stadiums obligatory - they are already created.
Only thing that needs adjusting is making it possible for the NT coach to change pitch size however he wants. Because this is why people change stadiums for NT matches and it is imo good additional tactical weapon.

So, the point of my comment was to arrive at a solution. I agree with you.

It's making a stupid choice that's foolish, not the person.
My Google Translate English isn't perfect, but calm down.

We should still be able to find a simple solution that doesn't require a lot of work, to avoid problems.
