OK... I understand these are not real fights. Hey, I'm not an ignorant teenager :)
But,... are some of these rivalries similar to old times? The same two cities for example?
Do people in one particular city think that others in another city are crazy? or greedy?
Can you give examples of the nature of the conflict or rivalry... please.

people in Thessaloniki and Athens give different meanings to some same words..that's all I can come up with.

yes the most good example is that. athens vs salonika. the one thinks that the other are retards /stupid / etc . and they dont like each other much ... etc... but its not the same as ancient times. xDD

here in thessaloniki we hate the people from athens because the politics like only them and in local teams and in the other cities they dont make stadiums , roads etc
2008-06-14 13:44:43
and roq you may see us usin words like hate but... bont think that we dont talk etc... it just a little bit strange.... xD

Here in Salonica, we break the cars that have athenian signs... xD

(Just kidding... but it happened once :S )

We should all be careful with what we post... :)

Here in Israel, there are some big rivalries, friendly of course and jokes about people from other cities. For instance, People from Tel-Aviv laugh about those from Jerusalem that they can't swim and talk funny. But we didn't have such a long history as a country like you did so it is less developed.

Except the part between Athenians and Thessalonians, is there any reference to people from the Peloponnese peninsula?

sparta vs argos

corinth vs kerkyra (reseis pws einai h kerkyra sta agglika xD )

corinth vs athens and i think i forget 3 major cities at least

ρε αστερακο ,ελεος λιγο !!
2008-06-14 14:41:13
Kerkyra = Corfu = Faiakes
2008-06-14 14:43:42
Why?

...and please don't get angry at each other because of me.
I'm simply trying to see if there's any residue from the past in these internal-national rivalries.
BTW, rivalries is a good word, not hate and fighting.

[It's not as if I were comparing boukoumtsa to Alcibiades! ;-) ]

lol!

of course not, i m a much better football manager than Alcibiades (:P) and i don't like tyrants and monarchs like he did ;)

anyway, i don't think there is any rivalry between Spartans and Atheneans or Corintheans because of their ancient wars ;)

1. It's good to hear. :)
2. It's a little disappointing ;-)
3. What about relations with Macedonians?
2008-06-14 15:19:09
because he used the word 'hate' in order to express what people of salonica feel about citizens of athens!i know a lot of people from salonica ,but noone hates athenians! perhaps they are disappointed because of greek government's policy in several issues ,but there is no hatred between people of the two cities...

actually ,there is no particular hatred that could lead in a fight between people from any two cities in greece...non-athenians might feel they are forgotten from greek government (and they are right) ,but this has nothing to do with hatred and rivarly...
