Your point was clear and rational and its obvious that is unacceptable such a behavior. Unfortunately the lads react in this way as there is actually no punishment for such acts in the Greek stadiums. However please don't preach about sportsmanship when human rights are been violated in your country on daily basis. Sports are to unite people and politics should not be part of it, so if you are just referring to this incident you are right otherwise you are not in a position to discuss about ideas like "sportmanship" and "fair play" when children are dying in Gaza due to embargo in medicine.

P.s. Dias was asking people to close this topic and said nothing against you it is always good to think before wright.

I accept what you say, even though I do not agree, because you make a polite argument and not simply childish posts.

I think that sports should never be involved in politics and vice-versa. Thus, the same goes for allowing to make arguments. My country can do many things wrong or right, but that should never influence its athletes, nor should it have any affect on my ability to complain. This argument of yours lacks logic!

Are you saying that a criminal jailed for theft (for example) can not complain to the authorities about a murder of his cell mate because he is 'tainted'? Can a regular citizen simply take a car from a reformed convict because the ex-convict doesn't have the same rights as other people? Are you saying Israeli artists should expect abuse or Israeli athletes accept insult because of their national affiliation?

Bear in mind that all these alleged allegations about the war in Gaza against Israel are one sided and I have not reacted to their truthfulness or validity. I am not going to turn this into a political debate about Israel or the Palestinians or about Greek atrocities committed in Cyprus. Politics should never be involved in sports.

Politics should have nothing to do with fans behaviour in sporting events and the only acceptable reaction to my original post was supposed to be the first line of your post above: "...its obvious that is unacceptable such a behavior." I know because I spoke to many Greek people here in Israel and online who said the same thing.

I have absolutely no intention of saying anything against the Greek community, Greece or its people. I have a great love and fascination to this country and quite a few Greek people here in sokker know this. Anyone who took my words as an insult is mistaken and I apologise. But the reactions involving politics in this discussion and even bringing them into the world of sports are simply wrong!

i am afraid i don't have the time to write big essays. We agree on 2 points and these are that this behavior is unacceptable and that politics should not be interfere with sports. Now as far as the logic [Greek Word] of my argument is concerned, this basically an objective observation which you can agree or disagree in a democratic [Guess what another Greek word] world we live in, and none told you not to express yourself. (in any case this is why the forums made for.) However i wonder would it be so "patient" and "democratic" the Israeli forum i case of a similar topic?

P.s. Please stop provoking the Greek community by writing down comments like @ Dias & "You are stupid" and about "atrocities" in Cyprus as this is actually a childish behavior.

The fact that Logic and Democracy are Greek words is a great credit to the Greek nation, like many other things in your history but that doesn't make Greek opinions any better than others. But I respect yours because you make an effort.

The two other points I disagree upon;

one, you are more than welcome to come into the Israeli forums and argue your heart's content about anything. As long of course that you maintain a civil tone. You Greeks are known for certain words like you mentioned and we are known for our love of books and debates. Here in Israel we are our own worst critics and believe me that anything you can say about the war in Gaza from a negative perspective was already said a hundred times over. But I will welcome your views and arguments any time.

two, There is absolutely no provoking of the Greek community. How can you even say that with the pictures posted in the first reply of this thread? You just get a tiny taste of what it feels to have such arguments brought into this discussion. If anyone was provoked it was me, but I refused to answer in a similar, as you say "childish" tone. BTW, no one called Dias "stupid"... if you refer to the Greek word I used, I copied it from the post directed at me.

I will finish this argument by saying... you are most welcome to come into our forums and raise any issues or questions you like. If you argue coherently, you will get people full attention and respect, even if what you say sounds bad or wrong to some.

I am old enough to be your father and why do you think I ask you where can I write or not?
"tolerate"... lol. There are Mods for deciding that and you are not one of them.

If Red Emerald wants to sound his opinion or argue with me, we sure are not going to ask you where to do it.

I do however agree that this thread has reached its pathetic demise with your last post and should be closed.

Roq you do know me and I've always helped you.

Whistling against an national anthem is impropriate but it happened. It wasn't right but....
it was caused by the acts of your nation. I'm not gonna judge those acts as this is not my point. I'm gonna agree with you that sports and politics shouldn't mix up but it happens. Imagine what will happen in a game between Israel and Iran and how you fans will react.

Moreoever I'm sure that the greek fans were angry by some comments made by the Israeli FA. According to the newspapers he was provocative and called our players as "a joke". Also I'm sure you've read in the local newspapers the rumour that greek FA was trying to convince L'Pool to force Israel not to use Benayoun

Thanks :)

Regarding Iran - Here in Israel we make a great differentiation between Iranians and their leadership. Israel used to have wonderful relations with Iran during the time of the Shah and since we have a large Iranian-Jewish community and many inofficial ties online, I can assure you that many many Israelis would love to host the Iranian football team here in Israel. Bring Ahmedinajad here to Israel and you will witness a re-enactment of a mob lynch at the airport, but the Iranian people and their footballers are more than welcome.

Reagrding media stories about commnets made against the Greek team... I am not aware of any but if one footballer or any particular footballing official made such comments it would not surprise me at all. I don't expect any supreme intelligence from any footballer anywhere and if any of our football personalities made it is only because he is a complete idiot. As you have witnessed even here in this thead, we can not control poor individual behaviour. Benayoun is a nice player but I'm sure his participation was not a matter of debate, for better or worse. These stories sound silly and typical for sports media to deal with.

:)
