Small loss (2-0) against a much stronger Bosnia.
Unfortunately an injury for Devang (he will be fit for the U21 WC qualifications in 3 weeks) and a red card for Sarath.

As it stands now :
Group H
1 Bosna i Hercegovina 2-6 10-0
2 India 2-3 3-2
3 Panamá 1-0 0-3
4 Ukraina 1-0 0-8
Still to play this round:
Ukraina - Panamá

Next week :
Panamá - Bosna i Hercegovina
Ukraina - India

Next week a draw against the Ukraine will be enough to claim the second place in the group and to qualify for the 1/8 finals.
If Panama wins against Ukraine tonight (18.30 hrs), even a small loss in the game next week will be enough...

Against the Ukraine some players will return from injuries (Nilay, Tungesh, Visalakshi).

India is taking part in the qualification round for the Under 21 World Cup (U21 WC).

Program Group A :
Week 8 05-04-2008 Cymru - India U21 WC-Qualification
Week 9 12-04-2008 India - Norge U21 WC-Qualification
Week 10 19-04-2008 Peru - India U21 WC-Qualification

Norway and Peru are definitely out of our league, but we have a small chance against Cymru (Wales).
Disadvantage is that a lot of Indian U21 players are in a bad form, which makes the selection of the squad very difficult.

To help me managing the NT of India, I've appointed 2 staff members :

Bhaveshrajput will be the new Scout of the NT:
he will be responsible for putting all potential NT players in the online database and maintaining the updates.

andy_bond will be the Communication assistant :
he will try to recruit new managers and guide them in the first weeks.

For the current managers there won't be big changes : with all questions you can still come to me (Seniors, Juniors, stadium, coaches, tactics etc. ).
Only single updates of possible NT players can be send to Rajputs, who will notify me if necessary.

today's match
India - Norge 0:3

Indian Defenders were not upto the mark
India's Harinder Yerramilli and Cristiano Dias were no match for Norge's substitute striker Magnus Neverdal

and most importantly Norge' Goal Keeper could have very easily been selected for in todays first world cup semi final of Soumi - England if only he was a Soumi/England citizen

Norway is just too strong for India.
In a few seasons the gap will be a lot smaller, our youngsters pulled last season are still developing.
Still the chances of pulling talented Juniors are for countries like Norway (with 220 managers) 10 times bigger.....
2008-04-12 12:08:44
their goal keeper was the main problem
2008-04-12 12:26:38
Their goalkeeper hardly touched the ball..

Our problem is in midfield, there are not enough players that have a combination of reasonable playmaking, pace, technique, passing, defending and stamina in U21. That's not strange, seeing as the players are still young and can develop on all that.
Also there's no Indian manager who trains midfielders particularly, so all MID-players are trained abroad.

slad used to train MID
has he changed training?
2008-04-12 14:32:03
I think he is tending to defenders now, he has :
Vijai Yegammai
Douglas Mukti
Dipendu Vamsi
Lanel Mandhatri

who have defensive qualities

I think DG's doing really good job as I can see him from a newbies point of view, helping out Indian managers to make NT stronger.I already began to feel the differences between HT and SK.The match engine, the tactics,Trainings so ans so.
Thanks Bhavesh and Andy for helping me out.See ya.
