How long is the delay usually??

I can't say that... sometimes it is 1 minute, other times it is 7 hours... but 7 hours is an exception ;) You can only wait.

once when there was a delay there was a notification within brackets like (+27 min). today there is no such sign.

I advise you to make a tactic your own, and not to use a default tactic. The default tactics are not very good. If you'd make a tactic your own, you could analyse each match what was going wrong, and changing your tactic. At long last you will have a good tactic.

That's just the average of the level of all your youths.

if i have to decide between two youths of the same skill level, i should retain the one with more weeks left in the youth school, right?

Or you could check their talent and choose the most talented player.. or you could retain them both :)
