Subject: Israel Regions

Hi guys,
one user, Gil_T, contacted me and want to correct the list of regions

I just want to know if this list posted below is correct


Jerusalem
Zefat
Kinneret
Yizre`el
Akko
Golan
Haifa
Hadera
Sharon
Petah Tiqwa
Ramla
Rehovot
Tel Aviv
Ashqelon
Be`er Sheva

and Judea and Samaria (West Bank) and Gaza Area, which are not annexed by Israel so I don`t know if I could add them?

is this list correct? I found it on gis.cbs.gov.il

I think you can add some cities (since there are cities in this list).
Like: Ashdod , Netanya , Eilat ..
In this list you have cities+areas..

More cities: Holon , Rishon-Le-Zion , Herzelia , Raanana...

Like every country Israel has regions, cities, municipalities and metropolitan areas. One government agency doesn’t necessarily have the same list as another, and certainly people have different lists. On top of that, we shall consider for this purpose all areas and places that are under Israeli law which include most of the West Bank (Judea & Samaria regions) but not the Gaza strip.

To compile a list which will include all size municipalities and cities and represent a balanced view of Israel I propose the following:

These are the 14 cities in Israel with over 100,000 in population:
Jerusalem 732,100
Tel Aviv-Yafo 384,600
Haifa 267,000
Rishon LeZion 222,300
Ashdod 204,400
Be’er-Sheva 185,800
Petah Tikva 184,200
Netanya 174,000
Holon 167,300
Bnei Brak 147,800
Bat Yam 129,900
Ramat Gan 129,800
Ashkelon 107,900
Rehovot 104,600

For the rest we can add the regional names of the area which is as follows (NOT as mentioned in the Wikipedia site!):

North (Golan, Galilee & North Coast)
Centre (Mishor Hakhof, Shfela and HaSharon)
Judea & Samaria
South (Negev, Arava & Eilat)

This way you will have a list which covers everyone, is not too long and not too short.

I am certain everyone will have an opinion about what is right and which city should be represented in the list. What I suggested above is a compromise between too long and too simple.

my recomandation is not to add them.
these regions have political issues writen all over them and i think
it's best to avoid this kind of questions/conflicts in a game like sokker

we can include that area in Center if it's a problem

Haifa and Haztafon
HaSharon
Tel-Aviv and Hamercaz
Jerusalem
Hashfela
Be'er-Sheva and Hadarom
Eilat
