we can only play egypt , jordan and the far east countries
we cant be in a tournament where 50% or more wont play against us....

what about China, Japan, South Korea, India, Turkey and many other states from Asia... Also Egypt is in Africa, so they should play only on WC and African Cup.
What I meant, that Israel is best in football in your region, that's true. In middle east isn't better team, Turkey is the nearest state, which is better. So I tought you like nation are interested in football. I don't know if there are some popular sports in Israel more then football... Your country is good friend with USA, so maybe their stupid baseball (which is the sport I never find interesting) or their football, rugby but I never heard that in Israel is some kind of this teams...

in israel, IMHO football is the most popular game, right after it, came basketball..

it's not about what's better, but what's right. I think bourders are for this purpose, to see difference between states. And I don't see any reason, why should be middle eastern countries plays in UEFA Cup for example. To be correct, I'm not mad with this, for play play even on Moon, I don't care, but I don't understand, why is it called UEFA (United Europien Football Assosiation) when there are also teams from Asia...
but what really pissed me is that Turkey on EURO... That's total stupidity! It's europian football cup, and winner should be team from Europe. It's like Spain or Italy could play on Africa Cup... There pretty close to Africa, so why not then?

Let us sort a few things out... facts from fiction and politics from reality!
Sports in Israel: The most popular sport in Israel (by number of practitioners/players) is Football, second is Judo, third is Basketball and fourth is Tennis. If you count all martial arts than it is even bigger than football in Israel.
Israel's geographic identity: Isreal is extremely unique in the fact that it connects three continents at one single spot. Long before religious wars existed here, nations and empires fought over this land because all major trade routes between the three continents pass through here. Modern definition of what is Europe, Asia, Africa or Middle-East is purely a political fashion thing. Israel's identity is far more related to European culture than to Middle-eastern or Asian and the same goes for our diplomatic, cultural, technological and inclinational wishes. This is why Israel participates in so many European institutions, events and activities. Even the EU recognises Israel as a special member, in many ways akin to other satelite European nations. Turkey and Israel an not comparable though Turkey has more rights to be part of the EU than several Eastern-European countries of today, especially if the standard for ruling is not religion but economical status or technological capabilities. Do NOT underestimate Turkey!
Like kingbil said, it would make more sense to play in some sort of Middle-eastern region or Asian cup, is only because we have greater chances to be the best there, rather than being a weak member in Europe. But we don't because 1. Many of our neighbours refuse any contact with us and 2. We would rather play against those better than us, so we can improve rather against weaker opponents.

I didn't know that your neighbour countires didn't respect your suverenity. That's true, you have a bad location, you're black sheep in arabic world... But I don't look at the problem from this political side. Of course, when Iran and Syria and com. wants to eliminate your nation, it's stupid to send your sports team there. But it's also stupid to mix sport and politic. Look at the Korea, they are enemies but their athlets goes on Olympic together (at opens ceremonial).
That thing in Germany is history, since then protection goes far higher and even in "simple" states like my own, we are prepare for some problems during sports events.
Basic idea is, every state to play in their region, middle east is part of Asia, so you should be play Asian Cup (if somethling like that exist). That, that some people are stupid and mix sport with politic etc. I don't do anything about it...
@ Erez: I was pretty good in geography at my school times, so I realize good strategic position of Israel. And I know, your people are more similar to us, then asians. Many jews went to Israel from Europe and USA, after the war ended. But that is not reason, that you could play for example EURO... We already talk (wrote) about it, that everyone around you hates your nation, but that is different story. In a perfect wolrd, which will never comes, it should be as I said, and that will be right. Imho.
Turkey has no right to be part of EU. They are asian state, and they have one Istanbul in Europe, and that's not reason for membership in EU. For now, many states are against their membeship (if I remember right, ours too). They declare that they have different culture, different religion and their way of life and even way of running whole state is far from europian style. Of course, different culture has also Spain, different Sweden, that's not reason. But some politions are afraid of Islam in Europe, it could be problem then, because is imho very strange religion... I can imagine, Turkey can want (if they will be member of EU) to forbidden alcohol in whole Union. Very extreme example but could be real. Muslims in Europe sticking in everything nose, they want official law to wear turban in school, but noone cares if they wear it or not etc. Also you surely knows that movie "Fitna" from Nederland. It's been forbidden by EU, but that is reactioin of Islam in Europe and membership of Turkey.
But this is about football, and Turkey is good in football, their league is better then ours, our players goes there to play, they can even better pay, but some players complain it's hard to live there, too different way of life. If I will be president of UEFA, I would forbidden Turkey to play on EURO. And in UEFA or Champions League, could play only teams from Istanbul and europian part of country.
And I'm not so sure, you're look like to be little bit subjective what takes martial arts, 'cause you made one, so if martial arts are more popular then football or basketball... But okay :)
