Nishpal,

This guy is NT material as he is only 18, but he will not be in the NT if you don't train him accordingly. This is really what I meant, we have a lot of potentials even in defender, but we don't give them appropriate training.

He is a defender.

Defender needs
1) Defender
2) Pace

Other skills needed
3) Technique
4) Playmaker
5) Passing

For a start, I would recommend you to train him stamina, pace and technique.

Once he reach average stamina, average pace and average technique, he should be useful and considered to be in NT.

But if you want him to play for the first 11, you should continue training him to pace and stamina, preferably both reach excellent and above. Then maybe train technique a bit. Don't train passing, passing is sufficient.

The best time to train stamina is at the off season, why not train him stamina now, but ensure you have high-skilled coach in stamina.

A player that has solid defense and solid pace is better then outstanding defense and poor pace

train your player by a programme tha should let you train his skills equally...

as mysprs said you should train him in stamina before everything else, then you should let him coach pace at least when he reaches formidable, then you could train him in what you want, techinque, playmaking are also usefull for a defender, but remember that a player is more usefull when is complete ;)

really????? never woulda guessed that playmaking is helpful for defenders...

(Been drinking will delete previous post but still disagree with the point about a solid def/pace is better than outstanding def/ poor pace)

playmaking is helpful with each role...

it would also be a defensive midfielder if he got enough playmaking...

here in italy we got tutors, that are your mentors...

but this isn`t enough...

if you send only sk-mail to these users they wont` be involved in the NT programme and they won`t attend forum...

we will open new thread where we will introduce how to set training, set economy extera...

in these threads each user could ask for his problems so that each problem would have a pubblic solution...

both thread and tutor are integrated...(that is the italian system)

I agree that playmaking is important to defenders, but not as much as technique of course. Pace and defender still is the most important skills to defender. Then technique and then playmaking.

I tend to believe, if you have low playmaking defender, your defender will how the ball longer than usual, and this doesn't really help.

Right!

edit:
he could also pass to a marked player

Yeah, but he can only pass to a marked player if the passing skill is ok even he has higher playamaking skills. If he has tragic passing, expect him to just clear the ball or pass to the wrong person.

All skills are related. And we can't train all. Prioritise is important. That is why team that only train one single skill to brilliant, and leave the other skills poor, chances are the player won't be considered at all for NT, don't mention play for NT.

Well I come to think of it I have an incredible coach so I don't think it will take very long for this kid to be in NT. It is close season now right? Then I can train stamina.

This is the stats of my coach btw:
unearthly of stamina, formidable of keeper
brilliant of pace, incredible of defender
unearthly of technique, good of playmaker
magical of passing, unearthly of striker

Yeah, can train stamina now, this week only 1 match, cup match. If you train stamina, all your players, play or not play also will get the training.

Your coach is only good to train stamina, technique and striker. So, I would advise you train stamina for 1 week or 2 weeks, then you can train technique until you get another coach.

Get a coach, that have unearthy pace and unearthy defender. This is the 2 skills you will always train if you want to make the player to be in NT. And it is wise to get a single coach that have pace unearthy and defender unearthy.

What are you training now? Defender? Please don't train your players with coach that are not unearthy skills. For example, your coach is just incredible defender, to train defender using incredible defender don't maximise your training.

Currently, you are playing with 4-3-3, this is not the ideal formation for defender training. If you train attack, then you can optimise your training by playing 4-3-3. To optimise your training, you should have play in a system that have 5 defenders.

Don't worry, in the new mentor system, Your Team is under Group F, and the mentor is Tigermaster. He will help you to plan to get optimal training, if you don't mind.

If possible, send all your players and coaches to Tigermaster, he will help you to analyse and give you valuable tips.

I know getting unearthy skills coach is expensive, that is how Tigermaster will come in and give you best advise to enable you to be defender and pace trainer, at the same time, you won't burn a hole in your finance.

Tigermaster,
Can help to give the best advise to Your Team to help him to train the defender and at the same time get optimal benefit from the training plan? Thanks.

Thanks for the advice mysprs. I will get a defender coach as soon as possible. But it is a bit hard to have both pace and defending unearthly. Will they charge me if I reject their application?

you wont be charged if u recruit a coach and then sack them straight away.
