Because in your competition nobody change his line up.
National teams do.
+ you'll never play against teams with 10 more rating.
National teams do.
+ you'll never play against teams with 10 more rating.
A few things that I need to clarity.
1.
Being in NT coach is not necessary a easier task in term of scouting. Yes, you can rely on your U21 coach to do the scouting of good players. But what if he don't do the work? You need to do it yourself. Don't be assured that your U21 coach 100 percent will do that. I have see alot of cases when during the election one is very motivated to do this and that and be the helper, and when come to 2-3 weeks after election, is the motivation level still there? Although jijo did do the searching of players too, but you can check with him that I have do quite alot of it too and have my share too.
I don't think it is a good mentality for the NT coach to think like a boss, they don't want to do this and do this, let the subordinates do. In reality, if the subordinates, don't do the boss is the one that need to do the dirty work too. It apply to using helpers too. It is good that they can help, but if they can't you need to do the work too.
3.
I must clarity that I am a very tactical coach and I do use tactic. But why I don't change tactic? Simple, all Malaysian know that my competition only start only this season, season 3. Season 1 is learning. Season 2 is chasing for rankings to get into good positioning and get a good draw. Season 3 is the competition start.
And why should I disclose to my opponents that I know how to use tactic, and what tactic I used before the competition start? I aware that using tactic is important in international tournament. I also aware that to disclose too much to your opponents before the tournament start is not a smart move. Let the opponents know that I am tactically incapbable the better. I will surprise them then.
I always believe that the person that always said they are very good in tactic is not so good, because those that are really good, they will be quiet, surprise and counter attack when it matter most.

I've searched the previous group stage and I think this was in your second season as BC.
Some matches:
Cameroun - Malaysia 0:13
Normal result, rating 37 - rating 58
Malaysia - Scotland 0:8
Rating 58 - Rating 64
I think we could get a better result.
You changed the line up a little bit here but its way too defensive, 0 chances..
Italia - Malaysia 10:0
Rating 71 - Rating 59
Italia is a fantastic country, normal result.
Malaysia - Nippon 3:5
Rating 58 - Rating 58
We must win this matches, if we had a good tactic we could defeat them.
Bulgaria - Malaysia 4:1
Rating 63 - Rating 59
I've played this season in my competition against teams with 4 more rating and I won so I think we could get at least a draw in here.
Malaysia - Bulgaria 0:3
Rating 58 - Rating 65
Again that very defensive line up, again only 2 chances..
Nippon - Malaysia 2:1
Rating 57 - Rating 60
And we lost :s
Come on, this match we must win always
Also a red card for them, so we lost against a weaker team and 10 men.
Malaysia - Italia 0:3
Rating 58 - Rating 74
Good result this.
Scotland - Malaysia 4:0
Rating 71 - Rating 58
Scotland is too good for us, here they played with their A team.
Malaysia - Cameroun 14:0
Rating 58 - Rating 37
Good and normal result.

I think we can get 7 points more which means a better ranking and a better competition, I think you can do you 3 things in 1 season.

First of all, do you know what is our striker strength, defender strength and midfielder strength at that time?
I believe you are not in positioning to comment, if you do not have the information above. And you can't judge base on what Malaysian players standard now. I tell you, it is a big difference then and now, because I build team.
One can easily say that tactic, made a difference.
One can easily say they can do better.
One can easily say Malaysia have better players in terms of ranking with team like Nippon and can achieve better.
I agree to a certain extent. I admit I am not the best in the tactic, I will rate myself 5 out of 10.
However, I rate myself at least 8 out of 10 in terms of coordination and team building.
Let me assure you that you are not the first person to say that with better tactics can win matches. All former Malaysian coaches have said that. The end result, not one or not two but all say we just don't have the players to do it. What they previous say of tactic is just remains a dream. Older users like toong can verify it.
You can have the best tactic, play well, but what happen if your striker only have formidable pace or formidable technique and fight with the team that have divine defender and magical pace.
Tactic will improve situation, but in situation like that no tactic can beat skills. Tactic only work if the gap is not so big, if the gap is so big as what toong said, he can use the same tactic and beat any team in the league.
What you are trying to say here is you are expert in tactic. I rate myself 5, you must rate yourself much much higher. We don't know. Are Malaysian want to gamble? Anyone can say anything.
What I am trying to do for Malaysian community here is to build a gap, just like what toong did. Then he can field a team that can beat anyone without changing any tactic. Just see the team around my Malaysia positions, and see the gap. There is a huge gap. I managed to build that.
With good coordination, it will work. With good team building plan, it will work. I rate myself very high here. And I believe my fellow Malaysian feel the same.
Before I took over Malaysia, the average is around RM 3 mil, and now the average in the squad is RM 5.3 mil. Drastic change? How come? It is all because of plan, communication, hard work with the cooperation of Malaysian users.
It works, and I would dare to say, in 1 season time, Malaysia will reach RM 6 mil average in squad. And the international standard now is around RM 8 mil to RM 9 mil. Not too far.
I am building a squad here. And you just try to give empty promise that you are the greatest tactician around, and this is subjective, pretty subjective.
What I can be assure is you don't plan to build Malaysia squad, it is obvious base on your comments, you just want to try different tactic, if it works, you are much much greater than mysprs or other national coach. And it don't work, you will say the same thing, Malaysia striker only have incredible pace, not good enough to beat establish team. Yet you don't plan to build them.
Malaysian users, your choice!

Obviously the opinion of each manager is different. Realistically it is a combination of both - A mixture of Tactics and a mixture of team building. Obviously it would be very difficult to win against Danmark but even with a large difference in ratings, the gap can be reduced with precision tactical changes. If you have the strikers running the correct lines, even with 3x Incredible skills you can score goals against Divine defenders.
After managing an U21 team, you will realise how much of a difference different types of strikers and players can make when you get the tactics right. If you have the right tactics even with "poor" players who may not be of this "international standard" you are talking about you can still cause an upset. The idea with the tactics is to find the holes in opposition tactics to improve your own team's play.
About the fact that Toong doesnt change his tactics. Yes he has a strong team and doesnt change his tactic, but the point is he has found a tactic that works for his team and there wouldnt be many problems without changing tactics when he has found the right formula. Even with a team that is scoring 50 with you Mysprs it is VERY possible for you to tinker with your tactics and position players in the holes in Toong's tactic to get the upper hand on him. Look in my league - Australia A-League. My average ratings are 56-58 roughly. However the highest in my league average marks are over 60. I still managed to win the A-League and the Cup. I can also say that I got the formula right with my team and found a tactic that suits my team and the style of play. Throughout the last season I used 2 tactics for the season during the A-League and one extra one for friendlies.

most NT coaches is good in tactic/line up or think they are. I would think Denmark's NT coach is as good as anyone else, tactic wouldn't give much here.
any coach with Malaysia's players against Denmark 9/10 Malaysia will lose, the 1 time may be draw or win because of injuries and form in favor of Malaysia

I never said that Malaysia will win against a country like Denmark but we can win against a country Bulgaria which is one the 39th position on the ranking.

Yes the gap between Malaysia and Bulgaria now is very close now, can win by tactic.
The difference between Malaysia and Bulgaria is quite a big gap then, and stamina is a problem then. Lousy players good stamina, good players bad stamina. I think tactic doesn't make much difference if you don't have players that can't play 90 minutes.
But I have to agree that because of the inexperience in tactic, I lose to Nippon, Nippon is within reach. But I was leading the whole game 1-0, on the last 5 minutes they scored two. I believe it is not so on tactic, more on luck and the player stamina that Malaysia have that time. If it is tactic problem, no way Malaysia will lead 1-0 until 85 minutes.

Agreed on some point of Tigermaster, I will explore more on the tactic.
I aware tactic is important, I have some idea how to use it, but that is before the game against Danmark. My next few games are again easier opponents, I will use the same tactic.
BTW, can give opinion the tactic that I currently using now. What is the problem? As tigermaster pointed, if the tactic work fine like toong used, it is not too a bad damage.
I don't think it is that bad too, at least it works, I have beaten team that in higher positions before with this tactic. Anyone, one to suggest what is the weakness in this tactic, so that I can further improve?

I believe tactic is one of the most important things of sokker too. I believe team building is the most important things in sokker if you want to build a squad that capable to challenge in the future.
Different manager different opinion.

Since, there is so many good tactician here, I would like to post a question.
This is the problem I am facing, my first choice strikers that I used are outstanding pace only. I play them very in front due to their pace, however, most of my opponents play their defenders very far from their goal post.
So, most of the time, it is difficult to break through, sometime my strikers can have chance to break through, but the problem is with outstanding pace and outstanding technique, it never reach somewhere near the penalty box, the magical pace defender sure will able to chase, can chase 8 out of 10.
I have to really a lot on set piece to get goals for those opponents.
For those that good in tactical knowledge, what you can suggest? You have only outstanding pace and outstanding technique striker for example, you play an international match, your opponents play offside trap, almost near the middle of the field. Very difficult to break through, and if can break through, most of the time lose out in terms of speed.
What is the best tactic to upset this, other than to ask the trainer to train pace?

Not that I will get a draw against Polska because thats impossible for us.

Ok, I will take Bulgaria as example, they are even good as us ~~.
The skills from the strikers are like this?
Outstanding pace
Outstanding technique
Brilliant striker
Well, then I will surprise the oppenont to play with a winger, who playes on the line of the defense (very high). Then he will give some nice crosses and because my strikers have brilliant on striking, I'm sure they score at least 1-2 goals.
As you can see in my line up, my strikers cross each other constantly. This is very difficult to defend on.
