I am sinking deeper and deeper. How to earn money when even with home matches there is deficit? Trying to sell off some players deemed surplus and hoping my academy will soon produce some players which are sellable. :S

at the beginning it's really hard to run your finances without any deficit. If you have also youth academy (it will make money for you in long-term time) it's almost impossible.

Important thing is not spending all money on buying old players at the beginning. Also you shouldn't expand stadium. (you should do it only after you have full stadium on your league matches.).

You should think about what formation you are going to train. (the best could be this one where you have the youngest players). And buy some youngsters to this formation. They will improve your squad and also give you some money in the future when you sell them.

I noticed that you don't playing friendlies. It's a mistake.
Firstly you don't get money from tickets. Also some of your players lost training because they didn't playing match during a week.

u should not keep so many players.. since u not playing friendly, u should terminate 5-6players, from there u could save ur financial around 15-20k.. and u actually should play friendly.. coz it will generate side incomes..

Agree that it is really hard for team that just start to have a strong financial. Luckily I don't really face much problem on this. Just want to share how I achieve it. For your info, I break even every week currently without any home matches. For any home matches, it will be a side income to me, around Rm 220k to RM 280k.

What I did is not suppose the right thing people will advise you to do. In fact, I did the exact opposite. Just bcoz the timing is right, I am safe. So, please don't follow my method, as it might coz you more harm than goods.

I start pretty much like you, don't have friendly game every week. In fact, I was much more slower in pace as I don't have much interest in the game for the first season, thus, I don't train, I don't have junior school and don't play friendly game, and don't buy in transfer also. I just field my best first eleven every week, and don't have any plan to have better financial, as I thought it will be a short term game for me. Thus, I don't spend money at all for the first 10 weeks in the game, I suppose. I agreed I start slow, but the advantage is I don't spend money unwisely, that is why my financial considered ok.

I start to have more interest in the game once my matches hit full attendance, and I start to use my money to build stadium, and I continue building stadium until my income become higher. I remember I reach a stage where most of the Malaysia users is earning 70k-80k for every home game, and I earned around 150k-200k for every home game. Then I start to realise that I concentrate too much on the stadium and neglected other areas. Although by that time I have negative balance due to building stadium, but managed to get back to positive balance once I got the whole lump sum for being promoted. And I manage to break even every week.

Then at the same time, I was promoted to first division. I still remember at that time, the monthly sponsorship rise from 150k to 300k. As I already managed to breakeven that time, so meaning additional 150k to spend every week. Then only I use the money for training, hiring a better coaches. Youth setup and I play friendly games, a few weeks before I promoted to first division, but proper training and hiring a formidable coach, I only started when I get promoted. A few weeks before, I promoted, I start to have even greater interest in the game, and do some study and realise that I need a good youth setup and friendly games to gain training advantage and more importantly money. If no friendly games, meaning can't break even for the week.

To cut a long story short, I would say the below is essential

1) get promoted to higher division in a minimum cost possible. you don't need to buy players to get promoted, even to the Liga Perdana. My real first signing that will impact to my first team strength is brought few days ago, after I am guaranteed finished first in first division and will play play-off with a bot team to have a chance to play in Liga Perdana.

2) play friendly games. To get more money, go to sokker international forum, and posted your intention of playing friendly games. a few users will invite you for a friendly games, and choose the team with the highest fan base. you will get at 20k-40k for the friendly games itself, my highest record is 54k just in a friendly games with a foreign team. if you play with local teams, you won't get that much for sure.

3) on concentrate training, juniors or stadium first, it is up to you. you decide. most of people will ask you to choose the training first or juniors first. on my case, bcoz of my ignorance, as I told you earlier, I choose stadium first. it works for me, just that I have a weaker team with this decision, but still the team should be good enough to go to higher division where all the money comes and really make you a wealthy team without financial problem.

Just my 2 cents

Just to add 1 thing. Initially, I have 16 players in my team, only until recently the numbers add up to 19. It really safe at least 10k to 20k every week, and this will have you to break even. When I receive my team, I selected the best 16 players that I need, the rest all is transfer listed. Managed to sell only a few, the rest I just sacked them. To keep a minimum wages is important too for team that just started. This is what I thought.
