Subject: Malaysia - Slovakia

Slovakia (18th in sokker ranking) will be our next opponnent in WC Qualifications.

It's a very strong team - in last World cup they played in 1/8 finals (lost against finalist Belgium only 0:1).

They have new manager from Slovakia 1st division since this season. In his first match he used 5-3-2 formation and he lost against Spain. I think against our team he will play more offensively.

It's hard to choose their main stars because all their players are much better than ours.

so far Malaysia played two matches against Slovakia. Both matches were heavy losts:

541 will keep out more goals?

I thiink 541 or 532 doesn't really matter. What important is the player who play in the formation. We have 5 defenders and another 2 defenders with better playmaker quality playing in the midfielders roles.

So, in another words, all the best defenders in Malaysia is in the squad, 7 of them and this tell us why defenders are rated good for the first time in Malaysia sokker history.

I am sure that if we play more attacking, we will concede double digits score.

And it is sad, that our NT gk get injured, and this will affect his pace training.

not much actions for the 2 forwards, better just use put 1 up, and put some other player in the midfield.

Generally we can't be happy from the result. But it was too much difference in skills of players between this two teams.

about tactic:

we play very defensively with 5 defenders and two defensive milfielders but they were without any chances against good technical attackers in some situations.

I set also two attackers in squad..

I thought we could create some situations after long balls when one of them win header and pass to the 2nd attacker. But there wasn't any shot from that actions.

about the defensive tactic... was there really any need to place the wing backs so wide? Maybe a tighter defensive formation? (this is looking from the match overview as i have not had time to watch the match)

Imo.. this is not too bad of a result. However the loss of the NT keeper hurts (just look at Australian team too) - Ill have a look @ the match tomorrow after i finish work.

in my opinion tighter tactic could cause more problems. We don't have wing backs with high defence skills. And they should try to get ball in front of the opposite player. Because from behind they would probably couldn't do it well. And it could cause big holes on wings in our defence.

you could also watch percentages of offensive and defensive play in match statistics. It is similar for wing backs and for central defenders. That means they weren't out of play and have something to do near the line.
